Astra H VXR boost gauge install

Good install m8, that's exactly how I did mine last year and had no problems. Now you can know if you ever have a boost leak and when you get it mapped you can make sure they don't push to much boost through it which can snap a rod

@@mastersmods yes m8 had it done about a year and half ago from a local mapping place . I think it's only stage 1 or 2 but it's set to the mods you have on the car and boy has it made a difference and it cost half of what most places charge and if your not happy he will just put original map back on and you don't pay. The boost now hits 20-21 psi tops but when it comes in you know 👌

@@mastersmods pretty much identical to yours, got it mot’d yesterday and I prefer it to both facelift and prefacelift orange st’s ive had due to the billstiens shocks and full suspension ive done but once ive ran new engine I’m hoping to get it to 400+

You should think about buying the double gauge holder so you can install a coolant temp gauge aswell as there is not one on the astra which is pretty shit on a turbo car. But the good thing is as you know what all the wires are now you will do the temp gauge alot quicker now as it's basically the same to set up but just screwing in a new temp sensor but on the astra there's a spare threaded hole next to the original sensor in the head so you just pop it in there for perfect temps all the time "not like people usually do when they tap into a hose which is less accurate"

@@mastersmods yes m8 my temp gauge matches my boost gauge and was half the price and came with the sensor. Just look at the side of the head where your battery is and you will see your original temp gauge and next to it you will see a little square shaped bolt next to it about a cm to the front of the car, screw that out and the sensor straight in then it's just the same + and - wires to the same place as the boost gauge. A good excuse for a new video 📹

This sounds fantastic to do. I've lost my secret menu on my VXR so need to fit a temp gauge deffo! This sensor you're talking about, does it come with the temp gauge or do I need to buy it separate? @@dnurdsx most kits come with everything they need to set up just make sure the sensor is 1/8 npt male thread to go straight in the hole but to be safe wrap abit of Teflon tape around the sensor first so there is no leaks

Erm yeah I ended up smashing the shit out the grille and ripping it out pmsl. I have the exact gauge and fixing plate. Glad you got extra hose as the one you get is pants. Nice work mate

Ha ha yeah that clear plastic hose is terrible! I can see how you would smash the grille, easily done. How did you find the facia plate and gauge?

@@mastersmods the needle on the gauge made a slight rattle noise which I found strange but ok now. And I just super glued the facia on as it wouldn't sit right. All In all its great for the price and the gauge tells the correct psi as I had a obd2 data app running and the boost levels matched 👍👍

Nice video mate I’m guna do this myself but the you should of showed the last bit to connect to light to the boost gauge how did you route the wire to the cigarette lighter

It's pretty easy and straightforward really. It comes down from behind the gauge to where the cover panel is below the steering wheel then over and behind the centre console and up to where you see it with the spade connection on. The negative wire can be earthed to anywhere on the body of the car

I've had a similar gauge twice and never had any problems so until I do I'll stay with the "cheap effort" as long as it works and shows correct boost pressure, what's it matter how expensive it was 😂

Hello! I installed my boost gauge how you said but i can get maximum 0.7 bar, on my op com with live data stream i have seen i get 1.8 bar, my engine is z20lel, do you knwo why i can t get more than 0.7 bar on The boost gauge? Thanks.

Mine also boost 0.7 to 0.8 in sport mode. 1.8 bar boost is quite high

I found a pre installed boost gauge behind my vent on the vectra, it doesnt light up and doesnt seem to move the needle, vacuum hose seems to be correct, should it work without the power or might it be it requires power to work?

To my knowledge it should still work if plumbed in correctly, the power should only really illuminate the gauge. I might be wrong 🤷‍♂️
