So from my understanding reading between the lines you need to be fairly mechanically minded to invest in a VXR? I wanted to buy one but I have no clue about mechanics. To be honest I was looking to upgrade my 1.4SRI astra but Im kinda stuck with it for a bit now as just paid £1100 getting cam chain,pulleys,belt,water pump e.t.c all changed as it rattled for first minute on cold start. Drives really nice now though.
@alpina_b12892 жыл бұрын
When it's idling for a minute or like and when you hit the throttle the blue smoke comes out of an exhaust.It annoys so much.Many people say the valve guides should be replaced along with valve stem seals and the problem should be gone .
@Yodaracing12 жыл бұрын
If it’s smoking on cold start it’s valve stems if it’s smoking when warm it’s the turbo

I think it's only the z20leh that has semi forged pistons and oil squirters on each cylinder from factory the z20let doesn't. And recently had blue smoke start up cold and if sitting at lights and I take off it would puff loads of blue smoke so I changed the turbo core out and this stopped it completely but my symptoms did point to stem seals ect so try a turbo core first people cheap and easy to do. 👍

Id say the stem seals can be done cheap but ideally head off job as the valves can be cleaned because of the carbon build up. Get the valves relapped in for a good seal so it helps with compression and power that you may have lost because of the build up
