Throwing this out there to help anyone trying to navigate this shit. - Using the ASTRO mixamp via USB only is a significant downgrade in audio quality and completely removes the effects of custom EQ presets (or the built in). If you use a HDMI audio extractor it will return the mixamp to its full and former glory. The audio extractor will also make it compatible with the PS5 (not sure if the PS5 is compatible at all via USB). There are many HDMI audio extractors out there but when I was trying to decide on one I came across too many reviews saying this one or that one didn't work right. I ended up going with the one made directly by ASTRO. It says it is for PS5 but it works for both the PS5 and Series X/S. You will need to get yourself an extra HDMI 2.0 or 2.1. The extra it comes with is standard HDMI which is pretty lame. You only really need 2.0 because you will be unable to do 120fps using this. I don't consider this a big deal seeing how there are very very few games actually in both 120fps and 4K. This adapter will allow for 60fps4K with HDR. i dont understand how so many people misunderstand this, if you enable the dolby icon on your mix amp the, the mix amp itself does the processing for spatial audio instead of software, you need to turn off ths processing for atmos to work properly, otherwise you will have two layers of spatial audio processing enabled and that is just bad

This is my sane issue, I plug the SPDIF into the pc and I get pc audio but it cuts out xbox volume I unplug the cord and it returns. I've looked at every audio setting on pc outputs and can't figure it out

I am struggling, as a streamer I have the USB plugged into the Xbox, Dolby set up, but I plug the SPDIF cord into the pc so I can hear Alerts but plugging that cord in cuts all game audio. It's set to xbox I would like to hear both and it should be a possibility. On the previous xbox I had SPDIF plugged into console and USB plugged into pc. I got dual audio and I found the sound overall was better. Anyone else have this issue?

I think you're using the wrong port. SPDIF port on the amp is input only. There is a stream port on it that is meant to do what you're trying to do I think.

Hi, To be honest no it wont be, Optical cable was and still is much better then the USB how ever once the new update come, the USB should be better but until that happens, optical is still better.

I believe that series X and S will have the same UI and Settings, Is that not the case? Remember that there has been a few firmware updates so some things might have changed.

@@TechinaSec101 I have this headset and the thing that’s missing on the Xbox S is the port that is labeled S/PDIF. It also only has one hdmi port. So you can’t get the adapter like you can for Xbox series X. Seemed wired isn’t the way to go for the series S unless there’s another way idk about.

Yeah just go on Amazon or even through Astro directly and look for the A40 Mixamp Pro and you can buy the one for the opposite console. No need to buy another headset.

I need your help, I bought the same headset/mixamp for xbox, but when I hooked it up to the PS4 and now the PS5, everyone hears an echo on my end. Is it not 100% compatible? I have a ground isolator and the correct 3.5mm 4 ring cables. Any ideas? Could it be the settings on the mixamp? It is set to PC and not xbox or it wouldn't work.

From my understanding, the mixamp with the red line is for Xbox and the mixamp with blue is for PlayStation. You need the specific mixamp to match your console.
