Captain Pyralite depends on your sound card. The mixamp is the main draw of the astros since the headset isnt that good. Definitely not worth the price tag it has.

Captain Pyralite you should mainly just see if you can download the dolby surround software. External sound cards like the mixamp are good if your sound card id trash and cant handle it by itself. This review doesnt make much sense. The A40's shouldnt be reviewed with the Mixamp and same with the Clouds with the remote.. Remove both of those from the review.. I use HyperX Cloud Alpha with Mixamp and that is the best combo I have come across. I do like the A40's a lot but as far as sound and comfort the Cloud Alpha is my go to.

WARNING TO POTENTIAL BUYERS! You need to download an equalizer for the Hyper X Cloud 2's. Download: Equalizer APO + Peace GUI. Use the Rock preset and tone the bass and highs down just a smidge. Will make your Cloud 2's sound amazing. At stock, they sound fucking terrible.. if it wasn't for the equalizer I would've returned these in a heartbeat.

Honestly I used to have a pair of turtle beaches recons 200 and I could always hear footsteps no matter what. (I'm basing this on r6 siege(mostly) and cod) and they were phenomenal. Well the headset broke because of my rage one day and I had bought the a40's and the mix amp tr.. needless to say I'm always having trouble hearing footsteps. (I am partially deaf on my right ear) but I'm always having trouble hearing footsteps with the Astros. Even with messing with the amp settings I heard footsteps and audio in general better with my turtle beaches. So I've been hearing alot about the hyperx cloud 2 and I'm hoping these my be the answer to hearing footsteps really good again

I think the best solution is the Astro Mixamp Pro TR (that can come in a bundle with the A40 but also can be bought seperately) and the HyperX Cloud Alpha (basically a newer, better version of the Cloud II but with no surround sound, but that is in the Astro mixamp, so it wouldn't be a problem). I have been doing a lot of research, and this is what I'm 90% sure I'm gonna get. What do you guys think?

Great video! The only thing I'd add is that the A40 headset is actually around $140-$150. It's only ~$230 when you get the Mixamp with it. Also, you can plug virtually any other headset into the Mixamp, including any of the HyperX's, so if they are more comfortable for you and you prefer the audio quality (which many people do), you can mix and match.

I'm just noting, for anyone who doesn't realize it, that the A40 is essentially two products, so comparing it to a different headset that doesn't include an amp is kind of apples to oranges. For instance, if one were to buy a $100 headset like the Cloud II *and* the Mixamp Pro TR40 for $130, it would all cost about the same. That's all. :)

Hey Archy! There's no way to hook up the yeti to the mixamp because the yeti mic is connected by usb. What I do is hook ithe yeti directly into my computer. Then in my computer settings I choose the yeti mic as my input device. Astro headphones + yeti mic.. Hard to beat that combo! Hope this helps!

Just stumbled upon your channel. I personally would buy a Sennheiser gsx 1000 for cheaper than some A40's that give amazing 7.1, and stereo sound to any headset you plug into it. The thing is amazing. I even plugged in some Panasonic earbuds that have a great stereo sound stage to them already that were $10 and popped on 7.1 on the amp/dac and these things beat out any other headset with built in 7.1. The greatest thing about the gsx 1000 is that no matter what headphone you plug in it really makes the sound rich, so you're not stuck between wondering what headset you should go with ever. Even if your headset breaks you can pop in some $10 earbuds and feel immersed instead of needing to go back out and shell out another $100-300 for some nice headphones. Anyways, nice video.

Those $10 panasonic earbuds suck. No treble, and the treble gets worse over time. It gets affected by moisture that's why. Buy $15 Sony's, and they shit all over those panasonics. Or get the symphonized $25 earbuds which sound awesome as well. Fuck those panasonics. They lasted 6 months for me tops. I went through 3 pairs and just stopped. The treble fades away over time, it's retarded. It didn't even have good treble to begin with

Hey the mike sounding like a tin can is a setting, plus hi pitched mikes such as hyper x can create breaks in the hi quality like a crackle, so I’d say the A40 mike wins, because not everybody can get good headsets so keeping your mike in regards is just being nice to others as well😂. as an owner of cloud 2, let me tell you this "DO NOT BUY THE HYPERX CLOUD 2" yes they're comfortable yes they sound "ok" but not for a 100$ headset, the sound card that comes with it is HORRIBLE the 7.1 is complete trash that i never use it at all, when ever i raise the volume high i can hear noise in the back ground and it's 3.5 cable is TOO FUCKING SHORT over all don't buy it just go with cheap stereo headset or save you're money for a true quality 5.1/7.1 surround system

astro mic sould like u turn to a white urban accent guy. I just order a Hyperx Revolver-s for my old Revolver metal gear limited edition(the wires broke, and sound control box going to not work). Except the heavy body and hot in summer, nothing to complain. As A40, it's way out the price, too high ball. charge 249 USD. but if add 50 usd, I can get Audio-tech ADG-1, that's way better than this. the frequency is 5-35000Hz~~~

I have a friend who has 100hz and you can definitely tell the difference when gaming. It's slightly smoother. With all that being said all my games look great at 60hz and I don't really mind going with 60hz especially with the huge price difference going up to 100hz. If you do decide to go with this one get it off dells refurbished site you can pick them up for like 550 it's ridiculous and it looks brand new with no dead pixels. Hope this helps!

I had the gen 3 Astro A50's. I sold then for HyperX Cloud II's and I don't regret it. The only thing I liked about the A50's was the ability to take a piss and talk to my friends at the same time and the mixamp ability. Everything else about it was just bad. Also the HyperX Cloud I and II's come with replacement earpads. This review was too biased

The Hyper X don't have surround sound on PS4, only stereo. The software on PC does the virtual surround sound. You can't get the software on PS4, though if you have PS VR, the VR's processing box does do virtual surround sound. Otherwise, the A40's shit on the Hyper X especially if you're a console player. Sorry to all the people who bought the wrong headset but you snooze you lose.
