after 3 months of ownership, the boom mic became loose and kept dropping so instead of a warranty claim (which may have taken weeks) i knew this was an issue on old A50's, i had to use a hair dryer to warm up the glue that held the felt cover on the left ear cup so i could get to the 4 screws, unscrew those, locate the screw for the boom mic, and tighten it up a little, now better than new, unexpected design fault for something so expensive, but easy to fix

As a temporary solution, just plug in the usb to your console only and don't use docking station hdmi pass though just connect console's HDMI cable directly to your TV or monitor.

I don’t like how I have to change the input on my headphones to get the video display on my tv. Like if I want to play Xbox I have to change the dock to Xbox to get it to show on my tv, even if I’m not using the headset.

Hdmi grabs the audio signal and usb for the console to see the headset and use the mic

So i got them today. i can hear audio from my ps5 in astro a 50 x but the base station isnt outputting the video into my gaming monitor (lg 27gp950) as welll. i am so confused. checked all the connections and did all the settings that logitech support told in the video

That's the same issue I had when testing, definitely a compatibility issue with that monitor as a temporary solution skip the hdmi cables and just connect via usb to the hub.

Great review! I have the LG Gp950B so I’m glad I seen this video before I ordered a $350 headset for it to reduce my resolution. Hopefully they’ll come out with a fix via update soon. I have the A50x and same monitor and have the same issue as in the video. Word around the internet is they are aware of the issue and it will be fixed with the next firmware update from Logitech.

@@michaelperez7123 As of today there is still no real fix from Logitech. They seem to be aware of the issue and there are a few work arounds for PS5 that will get 4k 120 and full sound working but just have to see if itv works for you.

Thanks feeling much better 😊 You can only do that if you connect your PC via Bluetooth and PS5 via LightSpeed. You can't have 2 LightSpeed connections at the same time.

I've been having compatibility issues with my LG c1. Sometimes it'll work and sometimes it just shows up invalid format. So i gave up on using the hdmi and just have the usb plugged in on my ps5. Hopefully a firmware update for the base station will fix compatibility issues. It's got like 40gbps of bandwidth, way more than the ps5 even outputs. So i don't think that's the issue.

You can use both HDMI or USB C for both game and chat sounds but Logitech says that not using the HDMI for sound will downgrade the sound quality. USB C cable is only for chat.

To set it up look up the user manual for this headset and not the video on KZbin from Logitech. The ps5 set up video is wrong and the user manual set up process is different something I discovered myself. The user manual guides on how to set up properly.

Unfortunately It won't display anything on my Acer Predator X32 FP. It's really annoying that they made a product that won't work with all HDMI 2.1 displays. I guess I'll use it with just the usb connection for now until the new 32 inch OLED monitors get released. I have a feeling it's going to work perfectly with those, But we won't know until they release. It's a shame i can't get a video signal through the station, It still sounds fantastic so I'm not too upset, But for the price it shouldn't have compatibility issues.

I’ve ALWAYS been a Astros guy and I recently switched to PC gaming with my Astro A50 gen 4 headset and I found out the bit rate on those is locked at 16 bit 48000hz so games like warzone the directional audio is different to determine. So my question is. Are these new A50X Astros upgraded to the 24 bit 48000 hz sound bit rate? If not then I’ll probably be switching to the SteelSeries arctic nova pro wireless cause they are cheaper and come with 24 bit 48000hz bit rate…

24 bit is available only if you use the HDMI for sound but if you use the USB C for sound then it’s only 16 bit.

good review… but man, overpriced for what? sticking with my gen3 a50’s…. optical from base station to tv and wireless bluetooth adapter into aux base station gets me wireless optical audio (still the best sound imo) and simultaneous bluetooth on my xbox, ps5, and switch, for chat on discord or natively on xbox, and the astro xbox app works perfectly for eq, mic settings, etc. done and done.

Does anyone know how to TURN OFF the astro a50x base station after the headset is fully charged? Because it will stay on if i don't unplug it, I'm tired constantly unplugging it after I'm done using it, I'm afraid if it stays on it will over charge the headset, its weird I never seen a headset base station that you can not turn off. I think the price is heavy overpriced, in germany they are sold out already, reseller wants 700-800€ on ebay 🤦‍♂️ thid thing costs on the logitech site 399€. It’s a competitive level headset and you’re complaining that it’s for hardcore gamers. This is also cheaper if you’re using it for an Xbox, PlayStation and pc. $400 instead of $600.

Defo not worth upgrading even from Gen 3. This headset comes with a really nice "white noise" that's impossible to turn off or turn down. As soon as the headset is turned ON it'll hum. I returned 3 of em and all had the same issue. I'm so done with Astros now. Wish I could re-buy my Gen 3s though..
