Astro Boy: The Video Game [34] Wii Longplay

Astro Boy: The Video Game is a 2009 action platformer that was a tie in game to the movie of the same name. It started as a PSP game and was ported to other consoles later in the year. Freddie Highmore and Kristen Bell and reprised their movie roles in the video game. In the game, Astro Boy goes to the streets and the skies to stop President Stone and his robot army.

The first time I’ve ever heard of Astro boy in general was actually from the movie because I’ve seen commercials of it on TV and even got a happy meal toy of him. I was also expecting this game to be a game to be something like ratchet and clank but the fact that it’s a side scroller reminds me of cat in the hat the movie the game and Despicable Me the game.

It’s mostly derivative of an earlier GBA game, Astro Boy: Omega Factor. Highly recommend, way more faithful to the source material!

I’ve always liked Imagi’s take on Astro Boy, and though the game isn’t too accurate to the movie, neither is the game for TMNT, which is also a great movie. (I did play this and quite enjoyed it though I used a cheat code book so it was much easier)

Thank you for your request. I actually considered doing that one years ago and even started a recording but never got around to finishing it because I had to throw out a bunch of longplays at the time because of my recorder having errors. I had to throw out some other ones in the works like Secret of Mana on SNES and Ocarina of Time 100% on N64. Someday I will return to do A Bug's Life again.

This game isn't good just like the movie. This PS2, PSP and Wii game lacks the soul that the Astro Boy Omega Factor on GBA had. The GBA game has timeless sprites while this game has graphics that look terrible didn't aged too well and when there's better looking Wii games, Hell PS2 and PSP games that came out before this. The GBA game let's you find characters from the not the 2003 Astro Boy show, but also the other Tezuka characters like Black Jack and has replayability. This game unfortunately lacks cameo appearances from other Tezuka characters and replaced them with bland power up icons and there's no extra levels. Only a bland arena mode. Also no PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, sadly. This is cashgrabby licensed shovelware at it's finest. If you must play an Astro Boy game then avoid this and play Omega Factor instead.
