We tend to sympathize with the down on his luck, imperfect yet resolved Donald (who is a single "father" raising his trio of nephews diligently in his sister's absence), while the goody-two-shoes Mickey (who only rarely acts as the uncle to his two nephews) is not quite as appealing to us although we've also enjoyed many fine Mickey stories over the years, and sometimes those rare but fun stories where Mickey, Donald, and Goofy team up for adventures.

Fun Fact, Donald has only ever had two voice actors so far. The current voice of Donald (Tony Anselmo) was originally a Disney animator who 'inherited' the voice from the original voice artist, Clarence Nash, who invented the quacky voice. Tony and Clarence became friends on the Cali Disney lot. I recommend looking up the story of how Tony became the voice of Donald after working as an animator. He's even animated stuff he's voice acted in.

Well, live-action/2D animation hybrid is actually much younger. It was invented in thr 90s and requires a lot of intense planning and careful prop work, which is why it is rarely used outside of short segments even today.

My grandfather was a lifelong fan of Donald, and had tons of old plushies, recorded tapes and official ones, figures, and other merch. All of them were passed on to his son (my uncle) and its probably one of the most precious collections we have of him left.❤ We love you Donald! Thanks for 90 years of wisequackin’!

I went to the dentist as a 5 year old 50 years ago ( worse experience of my life,they use to knock you out with gas back then) and I remember waking up in the movies watching a Donald Duck feature and thinking that he was just as angry as I was. He still my Hero 😅

The father was never given. The basic idea is that when you read the comics, watch the shows and movies, the “viewer” is the father. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I do remember learning that.

I absolutely LOVED this whole thing. Interviewing / having an animated character or muppet or whatever as a guest star. The kind of thing we had back in the 80s and such. This episode made me kinda feel like a kid again.
