Will you be selling your old Astro van, now that you have a new van? I am very interested in buying your van!☺️
@OrdinaryTwo5 жыл бұрын
At the moment our son is using it. We'll let you know if we put it up for sale.

Did you remove the internal wall before building the counter?
@OrdinaryTwo5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we did remove the lower part of the interior wall. There is a lot of space behind there!

Great vid. , I have a 03 identical to yours. 1 ? do you know the length from the barn doors to the back of drivers seat? thanks
@OrdinaryTwo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think the length is about 86" because we had our couch which is 67" long, and our fridge which is 19" wide taking up that space.

We also have a 2003 Astro and would like to use magnets to attach our flexible solar panels in combination with Industrial Strength Waterproof Velcro. Could you please tell us which magnets you used and where to get them. We've looked in all the stores around our area and their magnets are either too weak or too small. Great job btw! You're wise not to sell it.
@OrdinaryTwo6 жыл бұрын
Here is a link to the magnets we used from Amazon: amzn.to/2sEza4Q (ours didn't come with the foam adhesive, though). These are rated N52, neodymium magnets. Glad to hear you are using a secondary attachment too - like I said, we had one panel blow off the van while driving through a heavy crosswind when it was attached with only a single layer of magnets. We had good luck with doubling the magnets (sandwich style like in the video), but we ended up using 24 magnets for one panel, so it got a little expensive and I was always worried they would still fly off, so we now have them bolted/bracketed to the luggage rack with magnets only to keep them from flapping around. Thanks!

Where did you guys get the bed! I'm buying an Astro and would love to do a similar set up
@OrdinaryTwo6 жыл бұрын
Michael Toma the sofa bed that fit really nicely is the balkarp from Ikea. Inexpensive too.

www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00376932/ - this one?
@OrdinaryTwo6 жыл бұрын
Michael Toma that's it! It is different from the grey one in pasts of the video, but better - lower so you can sit on it if not really tall, you can fit bins under it etc. When in bed mode it is a little cramped for two, but it works.

Thanks so much!

Is it insulated?
@OrdinaryTwo5 жыл бұрын
We didn't put in any extra insulation, but being a passenger van, it has some factory insulation that works pretty well. You can really tell a difference where we removed some of it.

You could of extended the top roof with fiberglass so you could walk I side
@OrdinaryTwo5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would be cool. We dreamed about doing something like that and extending the back too...maybe to add a tiny bathroom.

Love your curtains; could you go more into detail about them? What material did you use for them?
@OrdinaryTwo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We just bought paper temporary blinds from home depot or lowes. We will be posting a tutorial video for just the curtains soon. Keep your eye out for it or subscribe to be notified when it goes up.
