UPDATE July 18, 2021: The Vacuum "Ball" was recommended to me by O'Reilly Auto Parts. The one I added to the van (shown in this video) is (Dorman 47076). This is the INCORRECT vacuum reservoir as it has 2 connections. The correct piece is (Dorman 47083). It has 1 connection.

Allot of good information and thanks for pointing out the location of the orifice tube for the van with rear air system. I have the factory GM service manual for my 94 Astro that I have owned since it was new and the service manual failed to explain the orifice tube location. My Orifice tube is iced up with a fully charged system and the accumulator is warm so I assume I have blocked tube. I have not had time yet to look further when I can find time.

Great video. I'm refilling my system, but when I run a vaccine I can only get to -25hg... I can't get to 29hg. I can seem to find any leaks and it does hold that vacuum for 2 hours with the pump off. Should I continue to look for leaks.

Interesting question. If that happened to me, I would assume the system is good. The important thing is to not "lose any pressure." I assume you went 2 hours without losing any pressure so you should be good to go.

@@OldSchoolNoe thank you for the rapid response. Yeah my gut is telling me it's good to go. Will fill it up and periodically check it for leaks. I see they sell leak detectors on Amazon for 30 bucks. Thanks. Keep up the great videos

Nice Stick bro but wait a minute, that's a vent?? You may have just solved the problem I has been chasing for years. Everything works until I put it in Max and the my vents drop out like they loss vacuum. I am going out now to check

Not a vent on the vacuum ball. That was the wrong one, it only has 1 connection!

I’m working on my 05 ac. There is no current going to the clutch. I’m tracing wires. What a mess. I think there is a ground issue. But can’t find any broken wires. Do you know anything on that? Do you know if they sell a wiring kit complete ac wiring harness? Everyone says give it a real charge, but I’m pretty certain no power is going to the clutch. Any info would help. Thanks.

The compressor clutch connector has 2 pins (A and B). The power side is on pin B, it gets power from the A/C Enable Relay (normally open), that gets its power from the "A/C Comp" fuse (hot at all times) , fusebox is close to the battery.

The ground side is on pin A, gets grounded at G104. What I would do is first see if the "A/C Comp" fuse is not broken. Then check if the ground is good. I would take a circuit probe (that's hooked up to the battery) and very pin A has ground. If those checkout then I'd move on to the A/C Enable relay. I'd remove it and see if pin "C8" (orange wire) was getting power with the key on engine off. Then I'd disconnect the compressor clutch connector and jumper pins "C8" and "D4" (dark green wire) on the relay side and see if we get power at pin A of the connector. (key on engine off).

Thanks so much. Haven’t gotten to it yet, lots of rain on the streets of Brooklyn, so I’ll try that when it clears up. Thanks for the reply. Lyk what happens.

hey my brother! question. whats the function the vac ball. thanks
@OldSchoolNoe2 ай бұрын
make sure to get the one with only 1 hole! The vac ball is a reservoir for vacuum. That way when the engine is not producing ample vacuum (such as going up hills, or during heavy loads, heavy acceleration), there is some "backup" vacuum to be able to run the A/C vacuum lines/any other vacuum lines.

i bought a vacuum ball without a vent hole...only one hole for the tube. is that gonna mes me up?

Scroll down the comments to "UPDATE July 18, 2021." Vacuum ball does not have a "vent hole." You bought the correct part.

After 7:05 , Part 3 "Manifold Gauge," this section is for educational purposes. I would have the AC "fixed" by a LICENSED tech in air conditioning.
