Just re-watched your trip to the Cherry Springs star party to photograph the Milky way. Seeing the final picture sure brought back memories from a much younger kid looking into the sky and actually viewing the Milky Way with my eyes. No scope, no binoculars, just my eyes. Of course there isn't the detail you get with your photos, but WOW what a rush. I am thankful for the work you are doing and your decision to share, and continue after you lost your father. You truly are gifted. Be well and keep doing what you do.

Trevor your music choices and deep sky photos are absolutely compelling! I still re-watch your Cherry Springs Star Party 2017 video and get immersed in the end photo and music by Dynatron! It's on my jogging playlist and I think of the photo and deep space as I'm running. Super inspirational!! Great work, thanks so much for your efforts to help us take in the night sky! I will eventually get some photos taken. Cheers!

I've just bought my HEQ5 Pro Rowan Belt Modded mount, cannot wait to try it, just waiting for the tripod legs to arrive. I've been into Astrophotography since February this year with a Star Adventurer mount. Took me 34 years but I've found my hobby. Absolutely love astrophotography. Great channel Trevor, watched all the videos, very well put together and inspirational too!

I have the rowan belt mod for my heq5 pro (once the second iteration of the mod came out) and i can assure you that it is a whole new mount, silent and very accurate goto. I can have under 1'' of guiding and the images i have are beautiful. BUT in order to get beautiful images you need to have a sturdier tripod, i have a berlebach tripod, a very good polar alignment and to remove the cone error from your scope, finally you need to have proper mesh of the mount's gears, i sent a couple of months (due to cloudy weather) fixing the mesh of the gears but once i fixed it the guiding was superb.

i'll have to agree with some people suggesting making a permanent setup and automate things it will save you lots of time and capture more data and targets plus you will get some quality zzz's. I don't have the option of making a permanent setup but i am in the process of automating my gear. I use Indi/Ekos (and i also have used Sequence Generator Pro) for my RC 8'', Heq5Pro and i have to say that with the help of its late solver and polar alignment i have really good subs, the only thing missing, but it's on its way, is an autofocuser (and maybe in the future a rotator). At my last imaging run everything went smoothly and i could just relax and enjoy the night sky.

The flattener connection is the same on the esprit as it is on the ed 80. I purchased the nikon lens adapter for the asi series cameras (1600mc cool pro is the same chip size). There is a 48mm filter holder built in to the adapter so it doesn't screw up the spacing between the adapter and flattener. I connect it with a 48mm T adapter on the flattener. The adapter fits the t adapter snugly so there is no play. I find it useful as it makes it really easy to disconnect the camera from the scope if required.

Great video Trevor. I also use the SW Esprit 100mm APO and by coincidence, mine is on an Ioptron CEM-60 EC. I wish I had the portable pier but it wasn't available yet when I bought mine. The focuser is nice but thinking of replacing it with a motorized Moonlight focuser that I can autofocus in SGP. Every time I image I have to load things in the SUV drive to a location, setup image, etc. My setup time is an hour and a half. Something to reduce another task and reduce possible errors with temperature change in focus.

I have to disagree with all the various people that are suggesting just having a remote rig, and/or mostly/fully automated setup... Sure, it can be handy when it comes to things like getting more subs, but... It kind of removes most of the hands on aspects of things that you clearly enjoy. On top of that, it then kind of goes from "a hobby I enjoy having a beer with" to more of a case of spending a good portion more cash to have something sitting in the back yard that does all the work for you, and removes all that fun... that challenge... that thrill when one accomplishes a task that was difficult, or giving you problems...

I love your videos Trevor. Started AP about 5 months ago and your videos have been a huge help for me. I use similar gear to you (esprit 100, CGX and an ASI071mc). Was just wondering when you said 30 degrees did you mean Celsius? I thought it was much colder in Canada. Also I just set up plate solving in SGP and I was hoping it would take care of the flip for me. Do I need more gear to automate that?

I image all the time AND I get sleep. It’s called automation! I use high end software but you can use SGP Pro and automate your imaging for a lot less. You will need an autofocusing system (which you should be using anyway.) But I guess automated imaging doesn’t make for very exciting KZbin videos.
