Deep Sky Astrophotography - The Elephant's Trunk Nebula
The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a collection of cosmic gas and dust within IC 1396. This incredible deep-sky astrophotography target is located in the constellation Cepheus more than 2,000 light-years away from Earth.
Full Details: astrobackyard.com/elephants-t...
In this video, I'll photograph the Elephant's Trunk Nebula using the Sky-Watcher Esprint 100ED Super APO and a ZWO ASI294 MC Pro Camera.

Trevor.....great video. Glad too see you got your hands on an esprit 100. I have it on my losmandy G11. With qhy168c camera. Took awhile with lots of help from friends to figure how to attach ff since i upgraded focuser to a moonlite. But we got it. Using a filter drawer infront of camera for my LPR filter and Ha. Good to see Rudy lol. Your doing a great thing for the amatuer astronomy community.

Thanks Trevor. I was thinking of investing in an Esprit 150 with a reducer. They seem to offer tremendous value for money and quality. Thanks also for the promo on the 60 mm Star Wave Guide Scope Altair Astro combo. I bought one for a Meade apo 80 series 6000 myself, rather than your 70mm Meade astrograph refractor and its a great complement.

Thanks for another spot-on video. Could you do one on the pros & cons of reflector vs refractor? I guess for planetary work focal length is primary so a big reflector to the way to go but for dso quality is better so refractor is better & easier (no cool-down period, collimation, weight etc)?

Hi Trevor. Great video as always. I'm curious about what components you used to achieve the correct spacing of the flattener to the camera sensor. Also, how did you manage to get your duoband filter connected in the imaging train? What size filter did you use and how is it all connected. I don't seem to be able to attach filters to my flattener. Cheers

AstroBackyard This channel means a lot to me too haha. Summer's over and I'm finally back in the game again, I just took my first guided image from a dark sky and I'm so happy with the result! I have a Lacerta Mgen II standalone autoguider, I'm so glad I found it because there seems to be almost no resources on it online. I'd love to see you talk about it on the podcast or use it and review it one day! From what I've seen it's one of the only standalones that are worth your time. Standalones are definitely so so convenient for guys like me with tiny portable imaging rigs.

I'm considering getting a H alpha clip in filter for my Canon EOS 100D but would that be a bad choice since the camera is not mono? Wouldn't it just pick up 4x less data with a colour camera compared to a mono?
