Nothing on KZbin can be compared to this series of lectures in explaining everything down to examples, equations, and mathematical operations! Absolutely the best! I guess maybe we are going to touch standard candles next to determine distances of stars?

why we divided by 16? when we already assumed that the Ly= 16Lr then we again assumed Ly= 48Lr?

If the temperature of one star is half the temperature of another star, the light emitted by that star is 1/2^4 = 1/16 time the amount of light compared to the other star.

what about the 48 ?

3 x 16 = 48 which means that the star is twice as hot and has 3 times the surface area.

@Anna Sui it is the scenario itself. The question itselfs states it.
