1 more tip i didn't see you guys mention: use self timer or cable release to avoid the vibration transferred from your hand to the shutter release. if your camera is mirrored and can do mirror lock-up, this avoids mirror mechanism vibration as well
@shawnfromportland3 жыл бұрын
if your location is windy it vibrates the tripod all around so you can use lots of rocks or sandbags to try to weigh it down

this is what I was gonna comment as well. I usually do a 3 sec timer

Another thing that I usually do is to turn off the IBIS of the camera. Sometimes it can make the image blurry.

Congrats Verge team. Becca you totally nailed this one. My favorite Verge Video to date. I used to be super into astro photography a decade ago, this takes me back. That 3D visualization in the begging is amazing. One setting I think is important that you guys forgot to mention is; as with any lengthy night exposure on a tripod, finger triggering the shutter could add unwanted motion to the capture. A remote trigger is nice, but in the absence of one, a countdown timer is usually enough to counter the motion your finger pressing the shutter button introduces to the capture.

I will add that any time I've ever taken my iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max devices out for astrophotography, I use the RAW setting to capture in ProRAW and then edit those. It's far better than what you can accomplish without on the iPhones. That said, I agree with the Pixel 6 Pro. Nothing else in the realm of smartphones can do what it does.

Ngl, GCam is a wonderful tool for Android. I'm a BSG GCam user, and although there's a lot of light pollution in my area, it's just enough for the stars to be visible on a new moon night. Using astrophotography mode on GCam is just to op!! The noise reduction and the fact you can capture in RAW although my OEM locked it in system camera app just makes it worth the install. Although I own a budget phone (Realme 8 5g) it makes the images look like something out of a OnePlus phone 😍. Just love Android for the modding community
@Hagen_Music_Sounds Жыл бұрын
If you are going to edit your photos or use the pro mode on mobile then you can do it with almost any half and top phones. The idea of seeing who its better its by taking photos in "normal mode" with out editing so you can see which phone has better camera, sensor, etc.

AWESOME video Verge team! Just took some great milky way shots on Mt. Laguna in CA using the Pixel 6 Pro and your tips! AMAZING RESULTS! I've been playing around with methods of illuminating the foreground using a short burst from a flashlight and noticed Pixel's software doesn't like this unless that additional light is CONSISTENT. For example, take an exposure of the milky way and your tent in the foreground while keeping a dim light on in your tent for the entire duration. This seems to work decently. However, if the foreground is illuminated with only a short burst of light, the result is a useless dark blury smudge. I bet Verge could make a great follow-up video of astrophotography tips and tricks with the Pixel 6 Pro.
