Wait a minute. There were bad calls both ways. There was one pitch by Framber that was at least 3" off the plate and the ump rang up the batter. Even the two Astros' announcers said it was a bad call.

@ktcarl ya I stopped arguing with people who claim the umpires are against us for the reason you just pointed out. Theyll scream bloody murder about the one or two "bad calls" that don't go our way, but conveniently forget stuff like JP France getting 3 straight strike calls on pitches half a foot off the plate against Wyatt Lamgford. Never any complaining or claims of "umpires cheating" when stuff like that happens. The only ones with any bias are the ones making that claim. Not the umpires.

And what a fucking CATCH by Loperfido!!! Hes been struggling hitting lately, showing the swing and miss/bat to ball problems he had in the minors that the Astros were concerned about and made them want to keep getting him work in AAA, but hot damn can he play the outfield. Thats at least 3 incredible catches hes made this year that i can think of off the top of my head. And Trey Cabbage with the (possible) HR robbery!!! First 40ish games this year it felt like theyd find any way possible to throw games away.....now theyre doing everything to WIN.

@@jonb8430 Long term Loperfido at 1B would be a waste of his athleticism, but it made sense to put him there when 1B was struggling so bad. Singleton has been playing a serviceable 1B so Lope's defense in the outfield has been great.

In April the Astros were in last place with a 7-19 record and not looking very good. Some guys in these threads were calling for Estrada's head on a platter. I jumped off the bandwagon in May because of the injuries and the lack of quality baseball. Now here we are in 1st place with still some key injuries. Next season I'll wait until June to watch the Astros play. Does any of Estrada's critics STILL think he needs to go? Is he a big reason the Astros have clawed their way back? It's also amazing how much it seems to have helped the team to get rid of Jose Abreu. Side note: Where is Dubon?

@@bobbygetsbanned6049 The Astro's secret sauce is their resillience... loosing all those games for years and keep going helps them get through pretty much anything injuries, cheating scandal, all the hate, bad players, etc... I credit Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, Pressley, Verlander all the ones that have been there a while for keeping their poise though all of it.

Are you asking about individual instances in this series, or were you just not aware of the new rule. Not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely asking. If it's that you didn't know, MLB introduced the pitch clock last year. Pitcher has to begin his delivery before the clock expires and the batter must be in the box, and "alert to the pitcher" by 8 seconds. That second part is a bit subjective and can cause some....irritation to say the least.

@brucer2152 the one on Alvarez was probably the right call, I think Alvarez felt that because there had been a foul ball, he should've had more time. Typically the umpire will wait a moment before starting the clock again, and Alvarez felt like he was rushed. The one on Hader? I have no fucking idea. I was at work so I didn't have sound and only could take glances at the game, but the clock was at like....6 when the umpire called the violation, so I have no clue what happened there.

When Victor Robles was showing off against Framber Valdez after getting a walk in the 6th inning, I knew major karma was coming, I just didn't expect it to be that fast- in the immediate next inning, nonetheless in the same fashion (leadoff walk and a homerun.) . I mean, you are playing against a team that has repeatedly beaten you up year after year, you just relinguished a 10-game lead to that team, and you had to show off after getting a lousy walk? as you were afraid you couldn't give them enough inspirations to beat you up again? I just don't understand it.

This shady umpire did all he could to help the Mariners win, but the Astros were that much better than the Mariners today to overcome the umpire’s cheating! The shady umpire’s strike zone was consistently slanted against the Astros the entire day from the start to the end! It’s these kinds of shady umpires that is the reason we need to use machines to call balls and strikes instead of continuing to allow them to cheat!
@imnotcreativeenoughh

A big problem they've had this year is pissing themselves and letting rivals walk all over them. Yankees, Rangers, and Mariners have all embarrassed them this year. .....until now. I'd feel a lot better if they'd have gotten a series win against the Rangers, but these 2 games were vintage 2022 Astros. Enough offense, lock down pitching, and once the game is handed over to the bullpen, it's game over. Tayler Scott refuses to let anyone score on his watch, Abreu is below 3.00, Pressly hasn't allowed a run in a month and a half (yea....remember when everyone wanted him gone) and is now below 3.50 and Hader blew his first save opp of the year and hasn't blown one since, now almost down to 3.50 as well. Hader has given up HRs, he's lost tie games....but the stats show...if it's a save opportunity he's not letting it go. And all metrics point to him being dominant the rest of the way. THIS is the bullpen we were supposed to have. Trade for a good SP and one more lock down bullpen arm.....and with Tucker coming back? This is a SCARY team going in to the playoffs.....insane to say that considering just over a month ago, I myself was saying they should probably sell at the deadline. Just like the stockmarket, things change quickly. BUY BUY BUY!!

@@zorazaiser6881 pitcher and hitter don't have to be looking at each other. Hitter just has to be "alert to the pitcher" by 8 seconds Think about if there was a runner on 3B or 2B. Pitchers will stare the runner down before throwing a pitch. They don't have to be looking at the batter.

@zorazaiser6881 not sure why YT deleted that, but no....that's not the rule. I just told you what it is. Batter must be "alert to the pitcher" by 8 seconds. Pitcher can be doing whatever he wants.
