That is not the correct way to do this, and it DOES cause performance issues. You should really try to minimize usage of Tick. A better way to do this would be to use an event dispatcher. I.e, when targeting an enemy, bind a "death" event triggered by the enemy to a custom event in the player character BP, which will untarget the dead enemy. Then, in the enemy BP, you can trigger the dispatcher when it dies, thereby notifying the player character that it should untarget the enemy.
