On the subject of Star Fox specifically: The on-foot gameplay in Star Fox Assault (as well as the entirety of Assault itself) is mad underrated and I'm glad Nintendo gave it another go. Hopefully one day Star Fox as a franchise gets back to where it needs to be, whether or not they focus on the Arwings. Great video as always! Pretty plausible origin for the shine! As well, I think it's cool that not only is the term "wavedashing" borrowed from Tekken, but Melee's competitive environment is inspired by Tekken's as well!

I've noticed for a long time that the characters with made-up movesets tend to be better than those actually inspired by their games. Link and Mario easily take the most inspiration, and they tend to be average at best with some exceptions in the more recent games. When you make-up a moveset for a character, its really easy to go overboard. Captain Falcon in 64 and Melee is prolly the best example. Never does anything outside of his racer in his actual games, so they used the manga and cartoon to say "hmm... well I bet he COULD do this this and this...".
