I've been using the windows key I got from the same kind of purchase for two years now. Honestly, it's been working great all along. Frame Chasers has a FE card that clocked to 3.2ghz on the core as well. Memory overlocks didn't affect scores as bandwidth of the GDDR7 seems to be sufficient stock.

@@uday6853 Even if there was x20 FG it wouldn't be the same. Tests have shown that you need a good base FPS for FG to behave well. Like it needs a good amount of "real" frames to properly generate frames, otherwise you get really bad latatency. A 730 would not get anywhere near the real FPS required in newer games for FG to perform well.

That's pretty much spot on what I gave for my 4090FE 2 years ago now, and that still performs better than the 5080 Astral OC:ed to the max without me needing to touch the card. If I bother to OC/UV my 4090 I can get 5-10% more out of it.

The 5080 is extremely disappointing: this is a generational upgrade, it should be 5-10% faster than the previous flagship. Now we have a third party card sold at a 40% (!!!!!) premium and it only just gets close when overclocked to the max. It's also from ASUS who have infamously bad build quality and warranty.

Dude, the 4090 was a HUGE step over anything else there's ever been. The percentage increase in that product was ASTOUNDING. It's a LARGE die! Nvidia is using the SAME process node as ADA. If they did what you suggest there wouldn't be a 5090 because the die would be too expensive because it would be MASSIVE, with too many die having to be tossed out because of defects. Trying to say that a company should make a 40 - 50% jump with the product right below that level for the next gen doesn't align with what's typical throughout the history of GPUs. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, but it's RARE that it happens after the top end of a stack made such a large jump in the prior gen. I'm impressed with what it does because it's good enough to be a 4K gaming GPU WITH RT enabled in most games, with the pricing being much better for that level of performance, so simply going on COST for this performance level, Nvidia did a good job because the 5080 is the first 4K gaming GPU at around the 1K USD mark. The next gen products should have 4K gaming below 1K USD or around 1K for an AIB model which is what I'm waiting for.

I'm of the opinion that any performance gained from having to overclock a GPU should not be taken as a positive "performance gain" of said GPU. It's more of a user-gambled gain. After all, it's going beyond the marketed power-consumption spec just to obtain further performance. This is different if the performance was gained via under-volting because that is basically optimizing within the marketed spec. So even if the RTX 5080 does gain good performance boosts via overclocking, it simply means the user is being led to gamble the life of their hardware just to gain said boost that the maker was unable to provide at base spec.

The most important part of the memory spec is the MUCH improved bandwidth over the 4080, which helps to compensate for the same memory size. Yes, that OC is VERY impressive, almost being 10% and for the bashers, I know that in SOME products there's been better OCs, but typically it's been more on the lines of 3 - 5% so this is very good. Ummm, dude it's not rumor that AMD launches RDNA 4 in March, AMD said this. So, it's not rumor.

Why do you even call it interesting? You can only achieve such minimal gain in performance by overclocking it, so instead of having Nvidia make this card better you are now justifying it can be a little bit better by overclocking it ourselves? So, to make up for Jensen's mess we are now responsible to do it. Mind you this is a new gen card 999$ for a card that can barely keep 60 fps in cyberpunk, black myth wukong and other triple A titles, now stores are selling them around 1000 - 1500 $ and you call it interesting damn! ?

One of the few reviewers of the 5080 (or the 5090) that mentions the new DP2.1. I want to move to gaming at 4k this year, but I'm not seeing many Monitors that have this capability, or the ones that do are very expensive.

I'm confused. Are you saying you did +6606 MHz? In Jay's video, he shows the default MHz on mem at 15001 under load - then he added +500. I have gone to +1000 on my Astral 5080 and it's stable - are you using MSI Afterburner?

TDLR to save yourself 30 minutes. Is this £1350 card worth it? If you care about pure rasterisation = No. If you have that money save £250 more & get yourself a 5090 FE as the 5080 OC does in no way get you near the benchmarks of the 4090, and no where near throwing distance of a 5090. If you have 40xx you don’t need an upgrade, For frame gen anything less than 5090 you’ll find frame generation absolute garbage to play on as the base fps you get is what it’ll feel like even if it Looks good with the higher fps, the feeling still stays the same and you’ll notice it heavily on the lower fps from the 5080. DLSS is fine. Fake fps Frame gen is not (least for this card).

Cool, ordering a ROG Astral RTX 5090, I wanted the reference model but Nvidia don't sell them here, you can only get 3rd party ones like Asus and PNY... badly need an upgrade from a GTX 1070 lol Asus has always worked brilliantly whether as a mb or gpu. It's not a big loss we can't get the reference model since the ROG is pretty much selling within 100 of the reference that I could buy in neighboring countries. God knows when they'll ship them though...

Add about 4GB to the 16GB that it has due to the fact that it SMASHES the bandwidth of a 4080, as in 30Gbps vs. 22.4Gbps. That's about a 40% faster memory system, and that matters. It means you can have a smaller size memory and do the same work. But it also means the GPU is going to have more calls to DRAM, so that PCIe bus is going to be cooking which means a person should REALLY have a MB with PCIe 5, regardless the fact that the GPU might not need the bandwidth. It's a lower latency bus moving to gen5 since transfers happen 2X the speed as gen4. So point being it's equivalent to having about 20GB on a 4080 due to the much faster memory system. And sorry, that's the way Nvidia works and anyone who follows PC tech knows this all too well. The judgement will be how it compares to the GPUs below it and how it compares to the 9700 XT.

With this basically being a paper launch, I'm forced to reconsider the 9070 XT. The 5080's sold out so fast that I didn't even see one on the Nvidia store webpage. And I was already on their site refreshing the search page at 6 AM PST. It literally sold out in a couple of seconds. AMD has a real chance to get a lot of sales if they don't wait forever to launch their new card, assuming that it does compete. Thumbs up.

This tells me if they bring out an S model, it will be stronger than the regular model as default, and since a regular 5080 when overclocked is right behind a monster 4090, the S model will be stronger than a 4090, and then if they bring a Ti, that model will be even stronger, and both of these monsters will be cheaper than buying a 4090 and will make these the best go-to cards, not the 5090. I suggest everybody to wait for a default oced model of the 5080 or wait for s,that's my goal

Extremely quiet?? Other reviewers were complaining the Astral is actually quite loud and the root cause is the fan on the back - when it is significantly throttled down in RPM or completely disconnected from the PCB the card is WAY better in terms of noise-normalized performance. How could Asus screw it up this much I have no idea. Hopefully they can at least release some bios update which significantly reduces the RPM of that fan relative to the other three, because it's apparently REALLY bad.

The rtx5080 is indeed interesting. It is interesting how a gpu with 70 class performance can get an 80 class name and price tag. This gpu is by far the worst generational uplift of the last decade. The first 80 class gpu in history that can't outperform the previous generation flagship and then it is a 1000$ gpu with just 16GB of VRAM.

If you plan on using upscaling and your eyes appreciate clean and clear visuals, I would go Nvidia. I doubt AMD can reach transformer levels of quality with FSR 4. I have used transformer and I thought the outgoing DLSS was impressive for upscaling. This is also the beginning of DLSS 4, so just like 3, I expect significant improvements as well.

@@CuttinInIdaho Well the last statement was 50 Games have FSR4 on RNDA 4 launch, but i want to see it on KZbin the real FPS difference and the price. I have no problem to way 2 months, to get enough Data on KZbin videos. On the other Hand, if a game needs upscaling to 1440p from 1080p to run 60 FPS maxed out all details, then it's time to skip such games. So one other factor is, what games i want to play and if i want upscaling... what games have DLSS 4 vs FSR 4. In my Eyes, i dont understand FSR4 cant upscale from software and must not be included in game settings. That would be a bigger hit to Nvidia. Maybe this is not possible or they dont want to use that chance. Ps= But i get it with frame gen 4 you get more fps in your games then in FSR 4 so much for sure, but we dont know what FSR 4 do and what about latency. Its time to wait for KZbin videos about that topic.

The same model starts around 2.2k eur in Estonia. It costs more then the 4090 was at launch here. The price seems around 1.2-1.5k for the 5080. And the 5090 does not even exist here. Why even launch it if you have negative stock...

Personally the 5090 isn't at a level that I'd like. I'm looking for 60fps 4k on the latest games with path tracing enabled. Only then will I upgrade from my 6900XT. Hopefully the 60** will provide in the future.

5080 with 16gb is a turkey (not much better than 4080 and short on vram), the 5090 FE is unobtainium and the AIB GPU's are all massive monstrosities chewing too much power. An AIB needs to produce a non overclocked 2 slot GPU similiar to the FE.
