I think this is freaking amazing! Especially for games which require you to user a couple of keys for non essential actions and want to be lazy about it, or there is some other reason you don't want to or can, use your other hand. Wait, if you want to use a driving game with a mouse, it would make far more sense to use the actual main operation of the mouse (and buttons) to control the car than use the extra "joystick" on it. That's what gamers have been doing since the 1980s with driving games supporting mouse control. Not saying it's not a pity there are issues in some games, just saying there are other solutions. Wow, so many good things about this mouse. I would definitely buy it, if I could afford it. Well done Asus. Thank you for the review, I wasn't aware of this mouse.

just got one, firmware upgrade is a must, but HOW ? Here-> Connect the mouse using the USB cable to the PC, AND put the wireless dongle (found within the mouse) to a separate USB port! Also, using a 3M surface makes it very smooth!

I think this might meet the criteria I want. It's wireless, I play mmorpgs and if I can keybind each direction to a different thing then this will be amazing.

Personally, now that I'm getting back to playing some fps games, despite my age, I've started getting interested in mice with joysticks or d-pads where I could use my thumb to press in any direction to move my player character around (much like with the Nintendo Wii + Nunchuck, the Nintendo Switch, or really, any analog controller such as the DualShock), thus freeing up my other hand from having to use the WASD keys or arrow keys on the keyboard to move my character around, instead being more free to press whatever other keys would need pressing, such as the number keys to switch between weapon classes, or the I key to open up my inventory for example.

I have a question! So I am on a Mac and absolutely HATE the magic mouse in all ways but one, the scrolling. Wanna scroll up? Down? Left? Right? No problem! Its VERY useful in garageband and video editing as well. I wanted the MX master for horizontal scrolling but its not good for gaming. Then I saw the keychron M6 but it is poorly built. Then I saw this mouse. Now my question is, can the thumbstick be used for smooth scrolling? I would REALLY love a gaming mouse that would let me do that. Just hold the stick in a direction, and it scrolls until I take my thumb off, that is all I want!

I'm considering it for office use. The joystick in digital mode could be handy for 4 shortcuts. How would you rate it for such use? I have enough of replacing switches in my mouse.Are there any rubbery parts that could desintegrate to pieces over time?
@1117Jrod4 жыл бұрын
If I were to use the joystick as a 4way Dpad only in order to bind 4 separate keys on a keyboard, is it pretty simple to use? Seems like it’s either going to be too far forward or it’s going to be difficult to use each of the buttons on the joystick as individual buttons, no?
@lyndongaming16 күн бұрын
does the joystick have clicks so it functions more like a d-pad? or is it fully analog
@Heart0rHead2 ай бұрын
I had to replace the switches on the Logitech g604 which is the most complicated mouse to disassemble. (double clicking). Now the replaced switches start to fail again...

Would be super interesting to see all the concepts and sketches of these types of mouse that never made it to production though. E.x. where the thumb rests. An up down joy: where your middle thumb can rest in it. Then Infront of middle wheel a forward/back. E.x. a joy stick peice that moves like a flat coin would on a table, with a tactile bump to then optionally keybind a function. I like the idea of a stand alone, low profile one that could hover over any keyboard though.🤔🤔 Still tempted to try one on "sale" (122usd / amazon au) as i cant use wasd and surrounding keys fluently anymore.

I like this allot. I am watching your hand placement on the mouse and I am certain my hands are much larger than yours. I am always looking for a large mouse and from the limited selection of mice for people with truly large hands this appears to be a winner for me. It's on the way from Newegg.
@xtraterresticles52703 жыл бұрын
How do you like the mouse? I also have large hands.
@antoinettepriest3 жыл бұрын
@@xtraterresticles5270 I like it alot. It's as large as I could expect. I don't use the joystick conventionally, instead I use it for obscure key commands. For me pushing the stick forward activates push to talk on discord. Oh and there is just one other thing. Left click occasionally double clicks. It was supposed to have been fixed in the last patch. It does happen every so often but it is minimally intrusive. Overall a great but. The battery life is also quite good.
@xtraterresticles52703 жыл бұрын
@@antoinettepriest thanks, I'll be purchasing this mouse as well and I plan on using the joystick for similar purposes. I'd imagine the double click issue would be the switch failing already which isn't uncommon with omron switches these days and the main reason I want this mouse.

Anyone ever try a joystick mouse on console like ps4 or 5? Since some console games natively support mouse, I'm curious to see if the console even recognizes the stick input, and how it would react.
@notthatfriendlyguy2058 Жыл бұрын
I don't know about console, but author is wrong about d-pad mode. There is 360 mode, which works exactly like gamepad's stick.

You probably have to use joyshock mapper, you usually have to use joy shock mapper in order to get off-brand analog controls to work for Windows cuz window sucks.. just really really sucks LOL.. it will take the input from the mouse and turn it into the default Xbox stick controls or whatnot.. the hope is that you can have dual input.. which, is quite frustrating that that's not just a standard thing in this modern age but. For a lot of the applications where this would be most applicable it would be.. I'm really not surprised that games wouldn't read it.. ever since the 360 controller, games have just completely dropped support for custom peripherals although the racing game I'm a little confused about.. that's usually the one exception..

Never somebody comes up with these cool peripherals or these nifty little ideas.. it's always mind-blowing how the first use case second use case etc or only thought of use case is always just kind of disappointing when it comes to people in the modern gaming age.. it's like the people that look at optical analog switches as just a faster key press and that's it.. Like who cares about playing a generic most basic of the basic of controlled shooters on your mouse I mean yeah you can cuz it's Counter-Strike it's a game from 1999, which isn't really fair to 1999, as there were far more games doing far more complex and innovative things in player agency and movement and controls back then as commonplace than there are now.. Think about solving the keyboard driving problem, without having to set up a wheel? Analog positioning like the original system shock but in an interface that actually finally has caught up to its gameplay.. with an analog key press keyboard.. or just that little joystick, now you have a multidirectional fluid peak system that doesn't sacrifice your movement keys, lean left right up down like riddick or Wolfenstein but also be able to move with full agency.. even better make it an analog Lean like the original system shock, there's so many things we could do with peripherals that we just haven't given a flying f about, if anything we've gone significantly backwards with the standardization of the dual analog controller for pretty much all game design nowadays.. we don't even get the occasional PC game that has like circa 2007 controls anymore.. and in order to compensate for that, games are increasingly playing themselves and reducing the layers of obfuscation between being a glorified QuickTime event that they are with extra steps and just being a regular QuickTime event LOL.. You take that little thumb stick joystick keyboard attachment that has been running around, put a throttle on it.. suddenly you have full mouse control to look around in your car, while also being able to drive your car in a competent way that a keyboard really can't do unless you use the analog presses but even then you have to do a translation layer but God even then that would be brilliant LOL instead of just wasting the potential of optical switches on a faster key press.. so many cool things we could do that we just have like we're not even keeping the full keyboard anymore.. we're paying two to three times as much as we used to but.. for some reason the focus went into rainbow Skittle vomit, for 2/3 of a keyboard.. that's a joke.. people are so boring.

God, I wish Razer would make a mouse like this, been waiting for years! or at least with a d-pad. Either way, it would require MORE buttons.
@jakedill13042 жыл бұрын
Razor makes a hole keyboard pad with all of those things.. they took the design from somebody I can't remember who.. it's called the Tartarus, they just basically bought it from them and then they kind of made it crappier but it's still better than than not I guess.. only downside is it has razor software so that's kind of a joke.. it's got some stupid limitations by comparison to the original in terms of how you can program things but it's basically like a one paw solution, and not in the limited way given its limited amount of keys.. it's got all sorts of modifiers and whatnot to compensate, well if the software worked anyways.. but I guess that's what autohot keys for LOL.. I wish I wish they wouldn't be the only ones with that one cuz they really do suck at everything.. they've got a bunch of cool designs that they just are wasting.. but they do have them and they do sell them so that still puts them up above most people in this business.. credit where it's due.
