I looked through hundreds of listings before buying this one and after a couple years with it, I find it obvious why that model got so popular, even with competition on the specs. When you looked at most models you immediately started to find crazy patterns. The ones that are solely focused on flashiness and lights but fails easily or has poor sensor registering, the ones skimped on quality for the sake of specs on paper, but you regret it the moment you unpack and connect it, the minimalistic ones to the point you really wouldn't call it gaming mouse any more, and the miniatures designed for hobbit hands or people that move the mouse entirely with their fingertips without palm contact.

Honestly, I think people underestimate how impactful the free-spinning (or Hyper-scrolling) mouse wheel is for experience as you are scrolling through spreadsheets, code, or documents. You can scroll slowly like a touch pad and then go fast as heck and then slow back down with minute control. Sure you could probably use the scroll bar or keyboard shortcuts, but it's right there in your hand. Cannot go back to another mouse without it. Bought my G502 from Best Buy and I will use it until it dies and probably buy another one.

I use it in music production. There's so many Ctrl-click/Alt-click/Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Windows-click shortcuts in Pro Tools, having the modifier keys mapped to the thumb buttons is such a workflow boost. I also like the weights, not because it's heavier though, but because placing weights in the front shifts the center of gravity to actually make it feel lighter, at least for my grip. On top of that, I've had it for nearly 5 years now and I can't tell a difference from when it was new. Those factors, plus the ergonomic layout, has me a very happy customer. When/if this wears out, I'm getting another one.

My only complaint is the overall durability of it. I've had 3 since 2019, all due to the Mouse 2 switch dying on me. Regardless, I still don't think I'll ever have another mouse. My hand size is perfect for it, I actually love the heavier weight, and the DPI switch being right next to Mouse 1 is extremely convenient for me. Since I game at a low sens, but work and browse at a higher sens, switching between them is just super fast and fluid. I actually just moved onto the G502 Lightspeed and I don't think I will ever get another mouse again.

The previous iteration of the app that I used with my Proteus was perfect, then they sacrificed user friendly functionality for "looks" in the new G-Hub app (I use with my Lightspeed) and it's a HUGE pain in the butt. It doesn't switch profiles when it should, so I have to set it to "persistent" before starting a game, I have to go into settings with a bunch of relegated settings like the red-headed stepchildren kept out of sight, but anything else you can lock for inside the operation menu with the rest of the settings as there's a 🔒 icon in those menus you can click (when "persistent" is off) but there's a 🔒 icon on the window that has the app profile (in the SAME page) but you CAN'T click it. The app was SUPER easy to read and understand in the old app as on startup everything was basically on the front page. Everything was, and it was easy to understand and operate. The G-Hub app you have to change menus/windows constantly when setting up new profiles. The mouse image (to see the key binds) you have to switch between side and top when the previous app had the image at an angle so you could easily see all key binds. Functions that did NOT need to be implemented, but they wanted it to look "bare and clean".😒 The previous app was easy to understand, easy to use, wasn't complicated, and it was neat and clean (as in not cluttered with options and overwhelming with functions). But it seems they wanted the new G-Hub to "look great" first and everything else is second. Now you have a useless "front page" of sorts that serves no purpose other than to have a cover letter presentation. Literally the few bits of information on the "front page" is literally presented to you on 2 or 3 other pages. Functions that you'd think would be grouped together but are separated by exiting entire windows/menus, just to have to go back to a setting the menu/window before to adjust when setting up a profile for the first time for the app/game. It's like they kept information presented at an absolute minimum, even presenting a couple of them in OTHER menus/windows, just to present the multiple menus/windows as minimalistic as possible as a "clean looking app" when all they've done is make it an app you have to switch back and forth and then find out sometimes it's just SHOWING you the info but you can't actually change that setting unless you go to another menu/window. Whatever. I HATE G-Hub with a raging hellfire passion only the heat from the center of a white dwarf can compare. So yeah.

The trouble with going with other brands is the lack of hyperscroll. When you work with long documents or code, or even webpages, suddenly switching back to a non-hyperscroll mouse wheel feels like going down a road covered in speed bumps to get to the right place. Hyperscroll is so effortless and precise at getting you vertically right where you need to be that it's a non-negotiable feature once you start using it. Not sure if Logitech patented it or something, but it's what's kept me from buying any other brand for over half a decade.

It's just too heavy and big to do any serious gaming with. It's useless for fingertip grippers. The overweight metal mouse wheel is way too wobbly too. I can't take this mouse serious for gaming, it's an obese mouse for palm grippers. If you are a fingertip gripper and want an agile mouse, stay away, get a G203 or something instead, it has a rock stable scroll wheel and is light enough for fingertip grippers to be flicked around.
@aragen67712 жыл бұрын
@@sophieedel6324 why the hell would you usr fingertip grip
@sophieedel63242 жыл бұрын
@@aragen6771 Because that's what people do. Some are fingertip grippers, some claw grippers, some palm grippers. Fingertip gripping is the most efficient for gaming because it's the most agile grip, you move the mouse with your fingers instead of your palm. It allows you to quickly move, flick and lift your mouse, that's why fingertip grippers choose light gaming mice to further exploit that benefit, the lighter the better. That's why you have these hyper light gaming mice with holes in them, they're for fingertip grippers, but are useless for palm grippers. Fingertip gripping is terrible with heavy mouse like the one in the video, since the weight is too much for finger lifts.

@sophieedel63242 жыл бұрын
@@aragen6771 the increased agility from fingertip grip comes from the fact you can use your fingers to move the mouse. It allows you to flick it around under your hand. Palm grippers hold and enclose the mouse like a tennis ball, they move their wrist and elbow to move a mouse, because they locked down their fingers. Not only does palm gripping with big mice result in RSI in the wrist, since all the strain to move the heavy mouse goes to the wrist, it is much slower to move a mouse. Most pro gamers use fingertip grip with light mice, maybe 10% use palm grip with a heavy mouse.

Daily driving my G502 for almost 7 years (since mid 2015). After such a long time of use and some abuse, the rubber pad under the thumb rest is basically worn down to the inner shell. Some points of the braided cable bent up and lost its normal shape since it was two years old (this might be considered an issue for this year model). The scroll wheel is also oxidized a bit from my finger sweat. I accidentally dropped it from the table quite sometimes. The mouse still works really well.

I used a G502 Hero for a good couple of years with all of the weights before the scroll wheel stopped registering every scroll wheel click. Until that point it was absolutely fantastic and I'm one of those people who loves a heavier mouse as it felt more precise. I've since replaced it with a Razer Viper 8K and although it didn't feel right at first the lightness of it became a hindrance that made me unsure. After about a month of use I began to use it just as precisely and my wrist for sure doesn't miss the additional weight. Any of you people out there still using heavy mice with a dying heavy mouse DO NOT WORRY about light mice feeling "unnatural" because it will feel right after some time and you won't even realise it once you're accustomed to it. Good luck gamers 😎

The theoretical lower bound on latency is probably better for wired, but in practice it's going to come down to how optimized a particular mouse is and also the degree to which these tiny deltas between tiny latency numbers actually affect gaming performance. Logitech wireless mice have great reputations, and the consensus seems to be that their latency is even lower than a lot of wired mice. AFAIK pros use them in high level play at 240Hz+ with no complaints. Logitech's g-hub just completely didn't work, but i was able to easily find their older software which works fine for my purposes. no complaints from me!

Got a G402. Love it. Fits well in larger hands. Lends itself for palm grip and more of a finger grip. Fairly light so easy to move around. Easy to reach DPI buttons. That's really all I need.

I have a G402 as well. Im surprised it wasnt mentioned in the video, since its essentially a G502 with less features, for a lower cost.

I've owned both the wired 502 (from 2017-ish) and the wireless version (2020). Both work great with only the meshy part of the cable coming apart on the wired one. I was attracted to it for the scroll wheel. I constantly switch between the ratchet and free spin modes, and I cannot imagine going to a mouse without it. I've paired my wireless one with their powerplay mat, and I simply never plug my mouse in to charge. Super convenient.

I'm currently using a 903 and yeah I'm constantly switching between locked and unlocked wheel, its just too quick and convenient to not use, especially when going through long pages, plus the powerplay mat is absolutely fantastic and if you have the money its 100% worth the price.

Hey, I prefer heavy Mice, I use all the heaviest weights. Used tons of mice over the Years and I don't see myself ever buying anything else. I absolutely hate light Mice, I think it's strange that most people prefer lighter mice. That togglable free-spinning wheel is super convenient for coding and anything that requires lots of scrolling.

We're on the same boat! I absolutely love heavier mice as it makes me more accurate on a lot of things (mostly fps games). Heavy mouse helps me aim with pinpoint accuracy and I love it!

I use the G600 for most things. I was using the USmartTech Venus for awhile. It's actually a good mouse. But I like having the extra buttons. I use them instead of buttons on my keyboard. So, I can basically keep my fingers on WASD and not have to worry about anything else. The side buttons are really easy to learn thanks to the "home row" bumps they have on the 13 and 16.

bought this mouse back in 2019. Still using the same model to this day with heavy use. Haven't had any issues with it other than maybe the rubber getting worn down and the scroll wheel and buttons getting a little dirty from time to time. Absolutely love this mouse.

It's ridiculous that they don't add an anti-doubleclick option in the software. Just have a benchmark for how fast you can click. If significantly faster clicks come in, discard and assume bug click. This exists as a separate piece of software you can apply system wide (windows only, "clickfix". It's just autohotkey!), but there's no practical reason they can't do it on the mouse itself. It's not like debouncing isn't already a thing! They just need to stretch its limits!

PRO TIP: You can use a molding rubber putty like Sugru to build on your mouse and make it more ergonomic for you. I build a whole hand platform on my MX Master so I could use it without having to claw the thing and it really helped out my ever encroaching tendonitis. I put in a little vertical fin between the pinky and ring finger to help grip/movement and it's amazing. Even my wife with hands half my size loves to steal it when I'm not looking. Don't stop at what the manufacturer gives you, don't be afraid to make it YOURS.

I've had my G502 for over 6 darn years, and it still works flawlessly. I`ve almost worn through the cable and buttons, but the mouse itself still works pretty much perfectly

I have the g502 hero wireless and I love how weighty it is. I came from the Diablo III Sensei which is so light that the braided cable being bent from being coiled in storage is enough to make the mouse shift when I wasn't actually holding. Lighter things feel super cheap to me which I know is kinda silly, but I actually like a bit of resistance when moving my mouse, especially when in lower DPI modes.
@joer88542 жыл бұрын
I loathe light mice because i have huge hands and heavier mice are much better for the feel and accuracy IMO. It's good to know because I will likely be buying a new mouse for gaming and use my Microsoft mouse for work.

The G502 is one of the best gaming mice I've ever had, and it's at such a great price it's impossible not to recommend it to others. Most people I play games with use it, and for good reason.

I've used the G502 Hero for a year now. I love how its so comfortable in my large hands for long Rainbow Six: Siege sessions. But the scroll wheel was definitely too stiff when I first started using this mouse. Once its been broken it its definitely a nice all rounder mouse

I have a g502, and honestly I love just the way it feels. Not to mention the extra scroll wheel buttons help so much with any game I play. I remember watching a video where someone had it set to the lean buttons on R6. And ever since then I've been using this mouse.

for what is this wheel future even useful lol I really dont get it
@retro3909 Жыл бұрын
@CREEZ_sinner I meant the extra buttons when you move the wheel left or right. However I have used the unlocked scroll wheel for a couple things where I'm too lazy to scroll to the bottom. For example, scrolling through the GTA clothes, scrolling to the bottom of Terms and Services, or even the bottom of the page in seconds. Sometimes I like to just flick it and feel it spin.
