Been gaming with a mouse/keyboard for 20somewhat years now and the few times I have upgraded my mouse or been forced to replace it, its always came down to ergonomics above everything else for me. And this is not just if the mouse is comfortable for my grip but also the button placements and even the scroll wheel.. you won't believe how many sucky wheels there are. After that I look for "features" but honestly there's so much bullshit they're trying to sell us it's unreal :P so yes a tip guide like this is great for new people and or those that are unsure. The main thing a lot of mice reviewers often forget is that for a lot of us a mouse isn't just used for that one gaming session a day, it has to be comfortable for more than that.

I've used a G9x (and it's predecessor) for a long time and I still consider it one of the best simple mice, then I switched to a g900 chaos, which is one of my favorite mice ever made, since it allows wired or wireless, as well as customizable side-buttons (2/4/or none) and it's ambidextrous (which surprisingly makes it feel good even if you're right-handed). But since I got a g600 for an mmo (to free up finger movement on the KB when you need to move and jump and use skills all at the same time), I've come to appreciate it so much more than any other mouse. I use it in games, for work, for everyday browsing, and even file operations; the third top button can act as a g-shift or whatever else you need, to effectively double the amount of commands. It's honestly tied with g900 for the best mouse I've ever used, and I've since bought 2 spares (cause from experience, things I like go out of production/stock faster than I can react). If there's one thing I really wish it had, it's the flywheel that both G9x and G900 have; it's inclusion would've made it my #1 bar none. EDIT: I'd also add, I had the g502 as well, and it (and every other mouse with rubber-ish surface) is absolutely disgusting after a some use; that rubber crap they're coated with literally melts, and mine looks like I've ripped out a few holes where my fingers touched it all the time (claw grip here). If the shell is not made of plastic (or metal) I don't even look at it anymore. Heck, I'd pay a good premium if the shells/buttons were made of aluminium or similar non oxidizing metal.

Been using a simple wired logitech G203 for several years now on my personal desktop PC. I didn't need anything crazy since I'm nowhere near a competitive gamer. it fits my hand and is super comfortable. Started seeing double click issues about a year ago, but just blowing out around the buttons does the trick. The only issue I actually have is the 2 side buttons are 2 far forward for my usual grip style and I've not been able to break that habit. For my work mouse I use a wireless Logitech M705. I like using wireless with a laptop. It's shape encourages a better grip on it for long periods of time working and you can "unlock" the wheel to get to the end of long documents or scroll past 1000s of lines of text in moments. This is really useful for my work as a support analyst.

I chose a Razer Viper Ultimate, because after looking at dozens and dozens of mice in detail and doing like a week worth of research, comparing reviews and whatnot, it kind of hit all boxes for me. I wanted something mostly lightweight, not honeycomb-shaped, durable and wireless. I had scrolling issues with my past two mice (XM1r and Roccat Kone Air Pro) after not actually a long time. Before that in the past I of course had a Logitech G203 and (surprise surprise), it had a double-clicking issue after the warranty ran out. I manually bent a copper plate in the switch to fix it for a few months, but it eventually returned. I gotta say, I've really had it with Logitech and after buying a G930, a G430, a G203 and a G910 in the past, which all had well-timed issues after the warranty expired (2+ years, I think), I won't be a returning customer anymore. The G930 had frequent disconnects, the G430 had its leather get flaky & sticky and fall off, staining everything around it. The G203 with its double-clicking issue and the G910 has such intentionally flimsy keycaps, it's crazy. Only 2 very milky flimsy plastic sticks that hold the keycaps in place. And of course the CTRL key broke off after 2 years with no individual replacement keycap for this particular one in sight. I'm much better served with an actually durable Redragon K556 that has been a great buy and it has lasted me many years already. I've had it with Logitech. That's why the Superlight was no option for me. It ticked many of the right boxes, but I just know Logitech from experience. Back in the day Logitech made fantastic and durable mice in the early 2000s. Not anymore.

I had the G902 and G703 Lightspeed and didn't like them as much, so I sold them. Keyboard and mouse are among the most important components in your daily usage of a PC, it's just not worth it to cheap out on something I use every single day for so many hours. Features meant for gaming can also be dead useful for productivity! Reprogrammable buttons and macro buttons are both great for doing things in complicated software programs that rely on lots of keyboard shortcuts for the fastest workflow. Macros can be used outside of games for doing tedious simple tasks like copying a list of number values from a text document, using them for a calculation with the calculator app, and then pasting them into a table or another list somewhere. Provided you know the appropriate desktop keyboard shortcuts for navigating around the operating system and the specific programs you are using. I despise mice that have navigation buttons for backward and forward history browsing, which don't let you change them, and are easy to press by accident. They can very easily lead to catastrophe if you're doing work in an odd web app in a browser, and the app doesn't have an auto save feature. Just one history back action, and it can erase all the work you have done for potentially hours.

So I went with a Razer Viper (wired) cus that seemed like the best bet. I'll be honest, I wish the side buttons were a bit bigger/protruded a little more, and I'm still not 100% loving the slightly mushier click from their special switches. I can definitely get over the mushy thing tho because you really don't notice it after a while and it's great to not worry about double-clicking. I think my ideal mouse is the newer Deathadder cus I loved that shape and they went and made it much lighter + all the benefits of the newer switch, but I can't really justify the change for now

The main issue with wireless mice is that you need to remember to charge them. In my eyes, if you ever need to plug in a keyboard or mouse, it completely defeats the purpose of going wireless in the first place. Idk I just don't want to ever have to think about it. That's why I landed on the Razer Basilisk x Hyperspeed. It's the exact same shape and size as the g502 (except it's way lighter), but it takes a AA battery like the g305 so the battery lasts for months on end. Also has no stupid RBG so I strongly recommend.

The mouse I wish for: - G502 wireless without rgb running on AA batteries as with high endurance on G603 (or standard rechargeable lithium cells - the point is that the batt is easily bought and replaced when it dies); - Same rubberized mouse wheel like on the wireless version, preferably easily replaceable when the rubber coating wears down, also for the side rubber grips; - Hotswap switches, including the middle mouse button that is currently that annoying tiny domed microswitch - I use it often and it's risky to replace it when it dies. I can dream, can't I.

Now THAT was a helpful review. Giving us the information we can use to work through our decisions is far more valuable to a consumer than someone just giving their personal ranking. Though, having more information like this can probably make those ranking lists more useful.

As a non-competitive gamer that doesn't even like "twitch-reaction-times" gaming, but work a lot with my PC, nothing beats ye good olde reliable Logitech M100. No RBG. No gamer bling. No many buttons festival. No in-your-face big "gamer geek" logo. No weird geeky immature look. No background app. No hour wasted on configuration. No tons of holes supposedly to save weight but actually meaning "this is a dust collector". A simple shape that just fits. It just works. End of story. Gotta love it.

I've been using some version of the Razer naga for about 10 years, and honestly I couldn't use any other mouse. I never played PC games before then, and I do play MMO, but since then I've played other games and I'm just so used to binding functions in game to it, and not elsewhere on my keyboard, I would have to re-learn how I play games on PC.

Can someone explain, if you can reduce input lag by increasing DPI and decreasing in game sensitivity to match, why can't the mouse do that, so I internally it's always using a really high DPI and just reducing sensitivity in its controller?

I remember buying a Red Dragon 'gaming' mouse just because it looked cool with all the RGB and the high dpi feature. It was very uncomfortable to use because it was too big and heavy for my hand. Fast forward to today, after much research, I ended up buying a Razer Viper Mini. Upon using it I realized that RGB and high DPI don't matter as much as weight, weight distribution, and hand fit (mouse shape).

The last time I got a mouse it was around a year and a half ago. I got the Razer DeathAdder V2, just because of the reviews that were praising it and because I knew it would fit my style since I had owned a BenQ EC2-B before that, so the shapes were quite similar, being more aggressive on the curves on the DeathAdder V2. Now, I've realized I want something better for claw grip and maybe a bit lighter, combined with a better mousepad since the one I've been running has been purchased for 5$ and it really shows it's not the best.

finally a review worth watching. Valid points . Hope players take it on board. I bought a Logitec G Pro hero wired one. Paid 40 box for it. It has a classic design. No fancy buttons and lights or extra weights (like G502 which is far more expensive) and this is the best mouse I've played games with. layout in hand is perfect and has the same sensor as more expensive ones . All these fancy RGB lights and buttons has no effect whatsoever on your gaming performance neither on how accurate and consistent the mouse is in tracking ( which is the most important part in gaming ) .
@bonanzabrandon68772 жыл бұрын
Factors that I look at when buying a mouse: 1) Weight 60g or less is ideal, if it's over 70g that's a dealbreaker and I won't buy. 2) Size and shape, if a mouse is too small it will cramp my hands, if it's too big it won't feel like I have as precise of an aim as I want. No extreme shapes (sorry Kone Pro Air). My main mouse is the G Pro X Superlight and it will take an impressive mouse to dethrone it, Finalmouse Starlight 12 phantom is close 2nd place for me.

Side scrolling features and infinite scroll functions in G502 is great for work and G502 works just fine in FPS games. However, the wireless functionality and lightweight features in G304 is great in clicking heads in FPS for me

I WAS using a G502 HERO but after an unfortunate incident with a glass of apple juice, it was dead in the water. (Seriously, have you TRIED disassembling one of them, let alone cleaning??) I replaced it with a Razer Basilisk v3 and i'm pretty happy with it. I play mostly MMOs, and the two side buttons are great for extra hotkeys, without the need for an entire numpad grafted to the side.

6:52 i cant use razer mice anymore i have owned 3 the first one i owned for 7 years had to disassmble 3 times and disassemble the switch which contained a thin metallic sheet that over a very quick amount of time it looses its flexibility making your drag and drop or click hold non useable after 7 years i purchased a new death adder only to encounter the same thing 6 months later, i purchased a mamba elite only to encounter the same exact thing 4 months later, needless to say razer makes your jump through the tightest hoops in order to get a "USED REPLACEMENT" or "A FACTORY CHECKED ONE". I'm in the market for a new mouse one that does not have this click crap problem.

I want the on fly dpi change and the infinity scroll wheel of the G502 , but i also want 70M OPTICAL switches and 8K hz polling rate of the Viper . I just started using a FINGERTIP grip with ARM for aiming instead of my wrist yesterday . Right now I am using some really old ACER mouse(probably from 2014) which i am confortable with . I dont know the name because the mouse is completely scratched up from the bottom . Suggestion will be apperetiated :)

I bought the Corsair RGB Dark Core or whatever it’s name is based on the size of it, I have very large hands and found the Logitech G703 just too small for my grip (which is horrible but it’s mine), anyway, the dark core is horrible, feels ok in the hand but mine has just bad clicking things, goes to sleep and hard to wake up, generally just not a good experience.

I bought the hyperx haste a few months back. I have seen youtube videos about reviewers complaining that it has a cheap sensor which is known to have liftoff distance problem. But in these few months of use, I simply can't complain. I'm a casual gamer and average skills who love playing valorant and CSGO. I usually buy budget peripherals, and have owned steelseries rival 100, rival 110, logitech g102. I bought a mm720 which started having issues. Returned it and got hyperx haste instead and it's the best mouse I have had ever. I know that I have had only budget mice, but I have zero complaints. The shape is good, no spinoff and liftoff problems for me. It's priced well and performs great. The build quality is reasonable too, no squeeks and creeks. I was skeptical that the internals of the mouse will be covered with dust in a few months but I don't see anything, says a lot because I live in North India, where dust is an issue.

I'm personally a fingertip gripper who, as of late, has become interested in finding a mouse with a control nub (like the ones found on the Nintendo 3DS for example) or d-pad where my right thumb would be (plus another on the opposite side which my ring finger could use), to mimic the kinds of joysticks found on DualShock-styled controllers (as typically used in game consoles), so that I could opt to move the character with said control stick or d-pad on the mouse instead of the WASD or arrow keys on the keyboard. An extra button, mouse wheel, analog control nub, or d-pad in front of or behind where the left, right, and middle mouse buttons would normally be would also be nice, since my fingertip-grip style allows for me to use my flexible fingers to move between buttons as needed, much like moving between buttons on a controller.

Good Video! Thanks Dmiitry! Two years ago, I bought a Logitech G305 wireless mouse which Linus love. But that's after he changed the battery's weight which balanced and lightened it. So I bought the mouse and did the same. Got the lighter lithium batteries and ordered AAA lithium battery sleeves. Yeah, good idea. I love the mouse for six months. Then it started to double click. So changed the switches. I use to think Omron was the best but after I changed to Kailh, I've had over a year of good gaming, good production work.
@kyleescamez11792 жыл бұрын
To simplify the video, if you want an MMO mouse, get a mouse with many side buttons like the Razer Naga and other brands with products alike. If you want an FPS mouse, you need a comfortable mouse with a tight grip for your finger tips, for this go for any textured mouse with deep slopes on the buttons like the Razer Viper or other mice alike it. If you want a productivity mouse, go for the MX master 3 from Logitech. If you want a mouse to fit all needs, since i am a Razer fan, I'd go for the basilisk V3, look at the basilisk V3 for why I chose it and choose another mouse that has similar features to it if you don't like Razer.

I used to buy a new mouse almost every year, but back then there weren't all these gaming products available. I simply bought based on ergonomics and appearance. My last gaming mouse was a Razer Uroboros. I liked it at first, but at some point the battery ran out, the thing literally ate up batteries and the buttons started creaking. Furthermore, the software annoyed me so much that I went back to using my old office mouse. I'm currently thinking about getting a gaming mouse again, but the prices are now astronomical.
@RikiGuitarist2 жыл бұрын
All gaming mice from reputable brands will have good internals (sensor, PCB). What I look for now is how other factors of the mice allow me to use it well: 1. Shape 2. Switches/buttons 3. Skates 4. (If wired) cable 2-4 are adjustable with after market modding. So shape is the thing I look for.

1. You should set your Windows sens to middle and mouse sens to 1000 DPI, regardless of sensor. 2. 3:40 those are 4 problems. Not all wireless are equal, while a cabled mouse for $10 works, forever. A cable is not a problem and never has been. 3. The measure is from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger - but only if you use palm grip, of course. Other grips can use any mouse. 4. Badly placed thumb buttons would wreck me, and the number of mice in history with 3 buttons for 3 fingers can be counted on... 3 fingers. Wheel should be removed if a mouse is a gaming mouse. There is a great argument for having no buttons at all on a mouse, since when you press down you move the mouse much more than 1 of 1000 DPI. 5. On-board memory is great for cross-platform. Likely though, if you're not gaming on PC, you're already taking your chances. DPI steps and LOD adjustment are the most important, and the latter is available only on a handful of mice. Good news is that today, you can buy a flawless sensor 1000Hz mouse for $17, so you can't really make big mistakes. :)
@vsm14562 жыл бұрын
"Other grips can use any mouse" - not if the mouse is too big anc you're using a fingertip grip. the shape itself can also be a problem, MS Intellimouse slides into my hand and it makes it impossible to use a fingertip grip for me
@tacticoolrick55622 жыл бұрын
Honestly, input lag mainly depends on the USB mode the device uses. You can shave off most of the latency simply by making sure the device uses the USB protocol to its full capability. Ben Eater does a good video on USB keyboards and input lag. It's highly technical but done simply enough for most anyone to understand.
