The logical thing is to use the USB-PD with the integrated graphics. In those cases I would disable the dedicated graphics. That's where having a good APU with a good iGPU comes in. For example, a Radeon 780m goes a long way and would be usable with a 65w charger, with a 100w charger even better. Next year I will get a Strix Halo APU and with 100w of USB-PD you will be able to run it at full capacity. I would also like to also have a discrete GPU, for maximum performance connected to an external monitor. In that case I will continue using the AC adapter.

Nice video. Good information to know. I have the 2021 G14 and I often carry a 67 W charger around and it seems to do the trick for productivity but i haven't tried to game with it, glad you did it here for everyone to see!

I'm about to get a 100w USB charger and will see how that does. Thanks for watching!

Can you do a battery drain test with the default settings… like no eco mode and battery saver mode turned on
@WeeeAffandi7 ай бұрын
What if you lock the fps to 30fps only. Would that still drain the battery?

What if you use pd + power adapter at the same time..?
@ryen7512Ай бұрын
@@amit4rou haven't tried it and not sure it's a good idea. The power adapter is very fast, about 30-45 min to full so no need really.
@amit4rouАй бұрын
@ryen7512 not for charging, but to provide full power to all components
@ryen7512Ай бұрын
@@amit4rou the included AC adapter is capable of doing that it provides 240w

are u sure it's 65W ? in the test we can already see that the GPU's TDP was reaching 55-60W, so if that's true, the battery was also giving it power? if that's the case then it's really, reallly bad for the battery. the CPU is not showing its tdp, and other hardware needs power too
@ryen7512 Жыл бұрын
Yes its also using battery power. Its not bad for the battery in my opinion because the battery would be stressed even more if no USBC power were plugged in.

@@ryen7512 you're charging and discharging your battery at the same time so yeah it can actually damage it ... wouldn't recommend anyone playing games or doing heavy graphical tasks on USB-C at all
@ryen7512 Жыл бұрын
@@Agent_Alpha_SLV you can't charge and discharge at the same time. The battery is either charging or it's discharging. Do you know how electricity works?
