as an mostly indie gamer, the steam deck is much more attractive to me due to the price and dev support. i don't really need the extra power or windows, but i'm glad the option exists for that section of the market

Honestly, whenever I use my steam deck i'm still quite surprised it can play certain tripple A titles and still look amazing. I've been runing thru RDR2 on the steam deck and I'm quite impressed at the performance.

@@DVZNMedia yea, rdr2 especially surprised me on the deck, I'm currently playing through Uncharted LoT collection on my deck and it runs so good at 40hz, medium and high settings.

I have the Steam Deck and I do like the simplicity of it. Being a Linux device it’s actually a fairly capable computer as well thanks to Linux being such a stable, lightweight OS. That said, if they’d come out at the same time I would definitely have picked the ROG machine. I don’t like all the hacking you have to do to access Epic, GOG, and XBL. I don’t like using Linux without a physical keyboard as I almost always use the command line. It takes too much effort to watch KZbin, check emails, etc on my Deck. Having Windows natively installed means it’s much easier get access to all the apps and movies I’ve purchased from Microsoft over the years. Plus, you can use Office.

Exactly, I've been a Linux user for years but the average consumer is used to Windows based machines. I think if MS could develop an OS similar to SteamOS that works perfectly in handheld mode but when you want to switch to a desktop experience then boom it's there as well. I just think that would really bring mobile pc gaming to the next level.

Fam, the issue is in my opinion, Microsoft won't get into this market for a one off console. They'd wanna be here a while. If they see that as a possibility, I think they'd do it.

I think now with the development of phones, that more people are looking to do things "on the go" yeah this is still a niche market but devices making it easier for the average consumer to game on the go are only a good thing. MS needs to get with it in some way shape or form.

​@DVZNMedia I just hope asus will still supports this device a year from now... they have a poor track record on this. Windows handheld mode could be great too.

Man, I hope Microsoft comes out with the PC gaming OS soon to really unlock the potential of the Ally. I imagine it’d be similar to the stripped down custom Windows OS that’s out there.

Yeah, if they don't do the handheld themselves, maybe they can finally develop the OS that really makes sense for a hand held device. I'd love to see it.
