Man. If only they had the digitizer the Surface 8 (and beyond) uses and the MPP2.5 pen. I genuinely would not look anywhere else. Lie, even now I still consider it for the screen and the GPU. This is all before even watching your video lol

Hey, is the difference between mpp2.0 and mpp2.5 so important? From what I understood mpp2.0 already allows more than 8000 of graduation in aptic return + inclination of the stylus at 60° as well as a great precision. Could you tell me more about mpp2.5 with particular sources, articles that I could read on the subject? Thank you if you do ^^

The Inktician Need help. How is the digitizer bad? Does it have the grid like structure where you can see small boxes that the entry level 2 in 1s have because that looks very ugly. Also, my usage is very limited. I am buying it just for the screen..i want it to be best..i will be watching movies, browsing and note taking..do let me know if it is made for me..will really appreciate your reply.

@@ananttomar1865 nktician doesn't seem to be here to answer us... You seem to need an answer anyway so here I am. Performance with the stylus is good, now, a straight line would be a bit of a zigzag... and precision isn't always good. It's okay for notes, quick sketches, it's not bad (on the whole it's okay) for digital drawing, if you zoom well, knowing that at worst there are line-smoothing options. So it's good, but not as good as some devices really built around it. On the other hand, the screen is really not bad. I think it's one of the best screens available on a laptop. I don't know what you're talking about with the "grids", but if you're referring to the dimming zone (because it's a miniLed), no, you can't see the grid, or almost not. On the 2023 version, the grid is even more impenetrable. For your use: note, film, browsing: the screen is going to be great, especially films will be magnificent in HDR, fluid with the incomensurable refresh rate (240hz in 2023!), detailed (UHD resolution, so very good, 4K on 16 inches seems too much) and magnificently colored (DCI-p3 in HDR). There's just a bit of "blooming", i.e. the colors are a bit... like smeared, the mouse on a black background will make a bit like a micro halo of white light around it, for example, but it's not very annoying. Now, this is an expensive computer because it's very powerful: the battery lasts a maximum of 5 hours, and you can probably get a better screen for the same price. Perhaps you could look at the asus B5 Flip Oled, also a very good screen, 2-in-1 computer with stylus, 9-12h battery life, but a little less performance.

Hi Teoh, really appreciate the work you do. I am hobbyist animator/illustrator using mostly Toon boom Harmony and Clip Studio Paint. Looking for 2 in 1 form factor Windows based tablet with dedicated GPU and good drawing capabilities. Looks like it is super narrow niche and the choice of good drawing technology somehow limited to Rog Flow and Surface Laptop Studio (which is now on sale as 2 gen is around the corner). Out of these two which one is better for drawing purposes? Or maybe I am wrong and you would choose something else? Regards, Cubishon

Something important to note about the keyboard backlight is that it's not possible to configure each key's colour separately. The entire keyboard is the same colour at all times.

It’s the pen that came with this laptop if I remember correctly. Asus pen 2. Not sure about tilt as I no longer have the laptop to test

I almost bought 3060 version for 1600 us $ second hand, but suddenly realized it was not mini-led... almost no one mentioned that x16 do not have mini led in this versions. IT IS NOT ONLY NOT SO BRIGHT, but i has only 8 bit, instead of 10 bit + colours are noticably not so correct... I wont reccomend to buy it without 10 bit bright mini-led screen

Thanks for this video, I've been curious about the X16. Couple of questions: - have you tried other compatible pens with it, and if so do you have any recommendations? It does not come with a pen in all territories (for example, UK = no pen), and ASUS do not make it easy to find info on compatible pens, so any help would be much appreciated. - when folding the screen back, when does it disable the keyboard? Say, past 180°, or does it have to be folded aaaall the way back? If I have it at, say, 270° with the keyboard face down on my lap, am I going to get unwanted keystrokes? Tyty ✌

The laptop supports Microsoft Pen Protocol 2, so all the Microsoft Surface Pens & Slim Pen 2 and all stylus with MPP2 (e.g. Renaisser) will work on this laptop. I've tested. Folding the display back will disable the keyboard. Once it's past 180 degrees (flat), the keyboard is disabled.

@@smaronboruah They have the same drawing performance. Difference is pen with textured tips will have slightly more resistance. Plastic pen tip is more slippery on glass.

I don't think so. As with any button placement issues, it will just take some time to get used to.

Hi! Just one question: Doest this have the "air bubble" when writing/drawing with the stylus? I've had a surface pro 8 and and the bubble/wave for the pressure was there, even when the pressure was minimal. I've never had that "problem" with an iPad pro, for example. If when pressing you do not have the air bubble (like the old LCD screen were pressed with a finger sort of things) then I will probably buy it. As a gamer-and-dev-frist and drawer second this is the perfect machine (provided it have not the bubble problem, which I find very distracting)

I believe the bubble you're referring to is how colour wave that appears when you press down hard on the LCD? I no longer have this to test so I can't say for sure. But it may have it. iPads usually don't have this problem because Apple Pencil can be used with minimal pressure hence you don't have to press that hard to create that "bubble"

@@giuliopaparelli7389 SP8 and Slim Pen 2 has slightly better line quality. The ASUS Pen is quite good though and for writing it's really good. Just that for drawing where you need more accuracy, SP8 and Slim Pen 2 is better.

There is not much advantage to mini LED except for the extra brightness but normal LED displays can be very bright too. The dimming zones just aren’t effective in real life due to blooming effect, at least to my eyes

Regarding the issue at 8:56, isn't it possible to solve the issue by tightening the 3 black screws next to each hinge when you take the back cover off? I heard some users were able to do this. Can you confirm if that's true? I don't mind tightening the screws a little extra even though that means I won't be able to open the laptop 1 handed. That screen falling down when lifting the laptop too fast seems like it would annoy me more than opening with 2 hands.

I no longer have the laptop so I can't test or adjust the screws. For me, I would make a conscious effort to either move the laptop more slowly, or have my other hand on the display while lifting it.

Right now miniLED advantage is just higher brightness. If the laptop can be 300 nits or brighter without miniLED, it's still a good laptop. miniLED is nice to have, but not a must have

14:45 You're not understanding why the fans aren't ramping up as much? Because in tent mode, you're basically giving free air movement from the fans to the cooling. You're not restricting any airflow because the laptop is sitting traditional. You really didn't understand that?

He actually said the exact opposite. The fans are spinning like wild when the laptop is in tent mode. It was a common software issue with the flow x series.

Well I can not see the lag of the dimming zones but I can imagine that bothering me. Pretty disappointed in the 500nits sdr brightness, the oled models do the same or even more with less latency. Whats my biggest turn off though is the tenkeyless layout and the lack of a thunderbolt port. I really like a numpad and expect it from a 16" form factor. Asus' egpu approach may be allright but it locks you in on this design. That lays Futureproofness on ice and limits io compared to their zenbook Flip lineup (which do include a numpad also). I may have dished out the price but the downsides are a deal braker on such a low compromise design.
