ASUS ROG Strix 3090 - Unboxing & Review

Now this is the fastest and most expensive video card I have ever had the pleasure of testing. I was able to actually buy this card from NewEgg. Was the fastest clock factory card until the KingPin cards were just announced.

I just upgraded to a Strix 4090 OC from this card. Mine always sounded like a jet in full flight when gaming. Fans were very loud. The 4090 OC is dead silent so far. I needed more power for VR. It worked. VR is awesome.

Thanks for watching! You may want to watch out at New Egg as well. I was able to get the EVGA FTW3 3090 there and the ROG Strix 3090. Seemed like 6pm MT was when they were releasing stock. Good luck!

Can't wait to see the water-cooling in action, having the card able to run much cooler will surely help increase the performance a bit. Here's hoping the coil whine isn't too loud once the fans are off!

Yes the asus 3090 is an animal and if you get this card it gets so so close to a 3090ti as most even 3090ti owners will tell you. If you get a good one you may see no differences going to a 3090ti and if you vet a bad 3090ti it may get put performed by the asus 3090. It's just maxed out it even has 4 more tflops then any other 3090 on the market it's like everything is boosted. Yes it's overclocked out of the box but still it's insanely good. Tbh you got a really really good one you are hitting 3090ti numbers.

Where do you get the nice PCIE 8 pin power cables? I looked online and can't find a cable with a nice shroud like shown here and on other videos. The ones supplied with my PSU are basic.

I have the block on now, just doing benches, took a break over the holidays. Still coil whine more pronounced with nearly no noise in the system. I'll post a video later this month on the block, there are some suggestions online on how to reduce the whine, sounds like it is coming from the caps on the back.

@@CETechTips Would love to hear more about the Whine.....and getting rid of it. Most say just limit your FPS to 144 and voila it goes away. Not sure this is true though.

How are you feeling about this card a month later? I was able to purchase one today and it’s coming in next week. This is replacing my 3090 FTW3 which unfortunately caught on fire and fried up last week.

Is it necessary to use 3 separate 8 Pins? Would it work as well with 1 separate and 2 in a daisy chain?

Yes it will still work, I have done this in my testing.

No this is a terrible idea.. the whole idea is too have a separate rail going to each 8pin on the card to get your full 150w per rail.. if u split it ur limiting ur self to power.

Why does this card have 24GB of ram when Cyberpunk’s 4k setting performance is much the same as that of 3080 that has just 10GB of ram???

Likely to handle some of the 8k titles it can do. Really niche use case, but perhaps a bit future proofing as well. It is overkill but I suppose that is what this card is about.

I just sold my Rog Strix 3090, OC is good with a huge power limit, but practically it's too loud.

@@chrisbenn It is just a slightly higher clock speeds. These cards are the top binned GPUs so they might offer even better OC if you want to push it farther.
