Got a Rog Strix Webcam free with the purchase. I got this instead of Legion 5 pro and slim as I've never used them before and I had very bad experience with Predator Helios 300 (I've had two, one had extremely bad thermals and the other started having GPU problems). I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Idk I'm comparing a acer nitro 5 with the 4050 in it to this asus with the 3050, and everyone says the acer nitro 5 is better but the build quality on the acer compared to the asus is what has me fighting between the 2. I like the asus it's got a 17 inch screen, and looks good. But the acer nitro 5 runs cold war at 240 to 280fps smoothly

@@AiMoun still more than enough for my requirement, but i won't say this laptop is the best because it doesn't have a webcam and it doesn't have a mux switch for maximum performance. I have added a 2TB storage since this review, so it's going to last a while longer for me. As for faulty parts, the keyboard itself does have some ghost typing issues, but that was fixed last year when i brought it to service. Overall, i would say for a RTX3070 laptop, it's good, but not as great as the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro at that time, and if you want a ROG laptop with maximum GPU power, then you can try look for 2022 version

My acer nitro 5 is loud as hell to, quiet mode isn't to bad but then it just gets to hot so it has to be in performance mode

Quick question, I’m about to buy the Asus rog strix series but I don’t know which one to choose. I have two options it’s either the G17 AMD Ryzen 7-4800H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (4 GB),1 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD or G153 AMD Ryzen 7-6800H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (4 GB), 1 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. I want to use it for mainly after effects and gaming. Which one should I pick?

If you want bigger screen, then G17 2021. Otherwise G15 for everything else. The gpu might be weaker, but by slightly and the G15 2022 does have mux switch switch might give fps boost in certain games.

Im not sure which version of G17 you get (is it 2021 or 2022 model), but you might want to check your memory, especially check if it's running on one or two memory stick.

i guess it depends on how much your palm rest sweats. For my case after using it for 3 years, it does leave some leftover stains behind, but for the most part, you can still clean it with a cloth

The laptop still works well. In fact it's been my working laptop for video editing. The only problem that I see so far is one of the green light for the RGB lightning went off (rip T button) and the WiFi card died (thankfully still in warranty and it was easily replaced). The thermals I haven't pay much attention at all since I didn't really play a lot of games this year due to work and I do open the chasis and clear some dust off the fans, but definitely will bring my laptop to service by the end of this year along with an upgrade to the storage (add another nvme ssd)

Did you notice an issue called "coil whining" ? It's some sort of noise coming from the fans, that alot of people are complaining from.

Yes, it's from the gpu, but the noise wasn't that noticeable when gaming.

One thing i have to say when it comes to the coil whine is that it's hard to hear in actual use since the sounds from the speakers are consider loud for my unit (may differ depending on what Strix G unit you're getting)

It depends on your usage. Usually gaming will drain a lot faster than doing light task like watching videos. Also other things like screen brightness, RGB lighting, performance mode, and background task might affect battery life

So my cpu is hitting temp from 75-85 degrees Celsius while gaming. I'm checking through the armory crate asus program. Is this okay and normal? What's the max temp for the cpu before it gets dangerous?

depends on what cpu you had, but usually manufacturer set their cpu temps to be lower to prevent cpu itself from destroying itself. Also 75-85 is normal, in fact it sounds really good when it comes to gaming in a laptop.

Depends on what game you're going to play. But for your case (R7-4800H+ 3050 ti), there will be some games that can reach 120 fps with dlss on, although i can't guarantee high settings due to the 4GB VRAM.

Well the G17 2023 version is for the AMD variant, although I don't know why ASUS decided to give AMD variant an outdated laptop chasis (Although I still do like the design of it because of the rear ports)

You can do a workaround by connecting the g17 to a separate monitor with USB-c. The USB c is directly connected to the RTX. Therefore, you will get more performance. Don't use the HDMI port otherwise it will be the same.
