I can relatively remove the light from my room and get it pretty dark so that's not an issue for me...but somehow regardless on C1 showing its age,still feels more vivid.. like colours are popping more in HDR hence wise I am still hesitating to upgrade .. almost did, but grabbed the 360 hz 1440p OLED and still gonna keep the c1 for an year or so.. seems more suitable for chilling, HDR and SP games

@@Need4FPS yea I’ll be honest for me the picture quality on the 32 inch I thought was noticeable better. 48 inches for me was too big because I couldn’t sit back far enough so having it as a monitor wasn’t easy. I think it has to do with the perceived pixel density. I was going to wait for LG 40inch ultra wide 4k oled that are coming out later this year. But the dual mode for me is incredible, it’s literally two monitors into one. Just got done playin warzone at 450hz now I’m playin Witcher at ultra 4k, can’t beat that.

@PCMonitors 2 ай бұрын
It is covered in the mega review at one point, but yes you can use DLDSR at 1080p 480Hz. DLDSR works differently to in-game resolution scale sliders, I would use the in-game sliders if available but DLDSR if not.

@@Khalid_Looby This is more of a GPU question really so not my area of expertise. But I think that makes sense from what I understand and have seen myself. The in-game sliders are definitely demanding for the improvement they give. DLDSR is the 'smarter' technology and should provide a nice visual boost for lower performance cost.

Very informative review. I recently got the PG27AQDP and wanted to get the PG32UCDP as a second monitor for 4K gaming. I plan to mainly play in HDR. Of all the monitors you tested, which one had the best HDR performance?
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors Ай бұрын
It's depends how you define "best HDR performance". They all have relative strengths and weaknesses. This one is pretty well balanced in terms of contrast, brightness and colour performance. I personally prefer the QD-OLED representation for reasons explored in the review (superior colour volume) but not everyone would like their typically more aggressive 'dim look' to scenes where bright shades dominate. And if you look purely at brightness and bright scene performance, nothing quite matches the ASUS PG32UQX or ViewSonic XG321UG.

The Samsung would be a better monitor than it is if it didn't come bundled with their infuriating Tizen OS rubbish that most people don't want and simply makes the monitor more frustrating to set up and use than is necessary. But I digress. A comparison between this model and QD-OLED alternatives, of which the Samsung Odyssey G8 is one, is made throughout the review and summarised in the conclusion.

Which colorimeter and spectro are you using for the reviews especially for qd oled. Thanks
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors 2 ай бұрын
As mentioned in the calibration section, a SpyderX Elite is used. This has previously been cross-checked with a spectrally-corrected X-Rite device and the SpyderX is absolutely fine for the purposes it's used for in the reviews, QD-OLED or otherwise.
@ggp759

@ggp759
@ggp759 2 ай бұрын
SpyderX elite is not suitable for any kind of OLED display per the manufacturer’s page. Sorry not trying to be a hater. On the contrary. Isnt this skewing the results for color accuracy, EOTF tracking etc?
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors 2 ай бұрын
It works accurately enough using Datacolor's generic 'Wide LED' profile. It's able to provide suitable colour temperature and channel balance measurements, gamma measurements and sRGB colour accuracy analysis. We don't analyse colour accuracy in extended colour spaces nor is a profile used during the review (as noted in the calibration section). The colorimeter forms a tiny part of our testing, which has a unique subjective focus that goes far beyond what any other reviews provide in that respect. What the device isn't good for is accurately measuring low luminance levels, which is why Datacolor doesn't advise it's used for OLED models and why we also use an X-Rite i1Display Pro Plus for contrast measurements in our reviews (and for cross-checking gamma). So it's fit for purpose and does what it needs to, whilst its weaknesses aren't relevant for our reviews.

I can’t decide between glossy or matte, the dual mode would be useful for me since I play cs2 but I don’t want to giveaway image quality, do you think glossy is really that much better like people say?
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors 15 күн бұрын
Some people are pretty outspoken at either side of the equation. But really, it's a very subjective and individual thing and depends on your own sensitivities, expectations and lighting environment. The best glossy alternatives to this would be QD-OLED which have their own issues this one doesn't such as lightening up of the image in brighter rooms (which takes away from the 'OLED look'). In a dimly lit room or tightly controlled lighting envirojnments QD-OLEDs are lovely, but you might really enjoy the matte image quality as well.

Hey! I like your reviews, you go much more deep into the products than other reviewers. Could you please review the Odyssey Neo G7 again if you still have it (or the Neo G8) as they have received a fair bit of firmware updates since your review? Could you also please show the nvidia settings used? On my Neo G7 I was troubleshooting it only hitting 800 nits in the windows hdr calibration app when VRR was on. Disabling a setting in the nvidia control panel named color accuracy mode made 1200 nits visible in the hdr calibration app. I'm curious if that's just a bug and the screen does not actually get that bright. Love ur content.
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors 2 ай бұрын
Sent that one back ages ago. As for Nvidia settings, they're just the defaults - no need to touch anything there. All 'Colour accuracy mode' ('Override to reference mode' ticked) does in Nvidia Control Panel is forcefully disable ICC corrections (and ignores other Nvidia Control Panel colour changes on that page or similar changes from third-party tools), so it would counteract the calibration you'd done with the Windows HDR Calibration tool.

@@PCMonitors ahh, thanks for the comment. It made me re-check everything. Apparently I had adjusted the contrast from 50 to 75 in NVCP. Explains the dimmer peak brightness in HDR with VRR on. Now everything works as it should. Thanks again.

Do you see OLED Dimming Flicker as an issue for eye fatigue? Is oled dimming flickering worse for eye fatigue at 240 Hz than for example 120 Hz? I read many reports of people unable to use OLED screens because of eye fatigue, headaches, etc. No big publications talk about these issues with OLED monitors. Thank you 🙏
@PCMonitors
@PCMonitors 2 ай бұрын
The reason reviewers don't mention it is because: 1) It affects a small vocal minority of users. Much less so than lower frequency PWM on LCDs, which involves a much larger brightness fluctuation. 2) They aren't bothered by it (just like the majority of users). That's not to minimise how annoying it would be if you were sensitive to it. It has more potential to be problematic at a lower refresh rate because people are more sensitive to lower refresh rate flicker. And more people will be sensitive enough to notice it as refresh rate is reduced (i.e. it crosses onto the wrong side of their flicker fusion threshold for that light source). There are many factors to consider when it comes to viewing comfort (pcmonitors.info/articles/factors-influencing-pc-monitor-viewing-comfort/ ) and dimming-related flicker on an OLED shouldn't really be a concern for most people. OLED models also tick a lot of positives when it comes to viewing comfort.
