I kinda disagree on battery life. Yes it’s very weak with both screens on & especially when your MUX switch setting isn’t set to Hybrid. But turning that 2nd screen off, changing the refresh rate switch to Auto (high when AC, 60hz on battery), MUX switch to Hybrid - you’ll get almost 8 hours of normal non-gaming use. For a gaming laptop with such nearly-unhinged performance, size, and weight, this is extremely rare & very good, albeit not ultrabook/macbook standard.

Actually, even 20Gb Type-C will be sufficient enough to satisfy needs for almost all ports, DP 1.4 excluding - which can be connected to second Type-C. Also - Thunderbolt will not work properly with USB4. And even with Intel laptop with Thunderbolt 3 and pricey LaCie dock does not sustain all my needs. @@teddym2808 that's the coin toss. A lot of people had problems with AMD's implementation of CERTIFIED AMD mobos with Thunderbolt 4. I repeat - CERTIFIED, by Intel. And problems with compability were numerous. USB4 can be compartible with Thunderbolt 4, or it can be not, that's pure luck, cause certification from Intel will not come any time soon - Intel has money on TB4, and USB4 is in direct competition. TB3/4 has a proprietary chip inside, USB4 has none. It can influence nothing, or it can brake everything. You have sample size so miniscule, that it does not matter at all. The chance of breaking anything will be smaller with less complicated docks and stuff, but for them You don't need nor USB4, nor Thunderbolt at all, 10/20 Gbps throughput will be suffient for a lot of stuff. Especially TB3 sound interface - are You sure it will not work with USB 5/10/20 Gbps? Can You test it? Also - 8TB game drive with NVMe SSD? You will lose almost nothing with SATAIII M.2, game load times are using only random acces, not sequential. So You're wasting bandwith to nothing. And in case of SATAIII on 6Gbps, well, USB 10 Gbps will be just fine for Your needs. As I understand, Firecuda does not have any SATA3 docks with SSD, but still - if You'll find any, don't waste money on PCIe.

@Jawad Nadeem Kayani I big screen game on my Xbox X on my 70" 4k Samsung TV with vsync... but I do have a gaming desk, chair, and a sweet curved monitor on my shop list... just need my wallet to not be in so much pain before I make another huge purchase.. oh I just thought that I can probably hdmi to my TV directly from this beast of a machine in the meantime though.

they should sell 1 of these without the touchpad to give room for a full-size keyboard layout (+ for ppl who like to use a mouse instead of the touchpad)
@taranagnew4362 жыл бұрын
couldn't you use a second monitor like the "sidetrek" as well as the screenpad?
@elmalloc2 жыл бұрын
@@taranagnew436 or the mobile pixels duex max as a secondary screen instead of the duo, then things get complicated. A similarly powered laptop is half the price, then add $300 fora mobile pixels duex screen for dual monitor.

I have same keyboard and same placement touchpad for over 3 ears now on ROG GX 701 and to be honest its so conviniets I don't think I want to go back to old placement. My hands don't have to touch laptop anymore and all the heat is on top so its always cool and comfy. I don't really get why people find that problematic. Bold move but I really appreciate them going there and next thing I'm gonna buy will be one of those low keyboard designs
@andyH_England2 жыл бұрын
This is a very tough buy as it really is not portable; the upcoming MB Air M2 and the XPS 13 Plus are light and thin when I think of that form factor. I doubt this is a logical choice for portability, ergo it is a desktop replacement. Then it loses the value of that display as I could hook it up to real much bigger monitors. Add in the poor ergonomics and the compromised positions of keyboard and trackpad and then factoring the very high price, I feel that this is really for those with high disposable incomes that probably have alternatives for portability and just throw money at this because they can. I get that when a new and shiny different form-factor reveals itself, there is excitement, but there are very good reasons why the clamshell norrmalised design is the de facto choice for OEMs and customers alike, the maturity of the market has meant laptops have evolved to their optimum design. Good luck if you buy it.

you can't take monitors in cafe or in Library tho can you?
@andyH_England2 жыл бұрын
@@ViharS7 No, but I really would not want to lumber this around either and if I am doing basic tasks then I would want something much more compact and subtle. I would never do pro work in a cafe or library. They are for catching up on the mundane workload or research.

@@andyH_England it’s not that heavy, and it truly is a 16 inch screen in a 15 inch laptop chassis. I went from a 15 inch razer and I’m questioning the value in that machine after experiencing the Duo 16 (both priced at $3999.99).

I’ve got to be honest and say any reviewer who disrespects the design of the trackpad on the right is pushing ASUs into the kind of mistake they made hear with this update to the Duo . It’s a worse design than it’s predecessor and is simply an inch larger . Yes sure specs are better , design is worse though . So take heed reviewers and get up to date with the fact that some of use are into trackpads , so much so that we would genuinely like to manipulate it one day as a glass pad with response times and herts frequency , for touch response .
