A very professional review, unlike many others from the legacy media I might add.

Great review, l just bought 2 as nodes. Do you say you get less wifi range with the 160mg bandwidth activated ?

Thank you so much for this review. It helped me decide as I can get the TUF AX4200 for about $130 CAD after tax or the Archer AX55 for around 90. My farthest range for wi-fi is around 45-60 feet and I'm sure the ASUS can handle it much better! Not to mention it has a much better CPU for learning/running more functions on Open-WRT.

If it had 1GB of RAM, it would have been very close to the ideal router. Imagine running SNORT on it and everything remaining stable.

thanks for the review. im thinking about buying this, i have a 10 year old router atm and i have to reset it couple times a month. i just want a stable router that can run wifi for my phone and chrome and i can use a ethernet cable to my pc same time. i assume its possible with this one. my old router if i did this method it would cut my connection speed to my pc to 100 mbit. i have 1000/1000 and i want to be able to use my speed for my pc when i play games.

I just bought the Tplink AX73, should I replace it to the Asus Ax4200 for better gaming latecy?
@SamBondorАй бұрын
Do you have any problems with latency when using the AX73? Also, is the client wired or wireless?

@@SamBondorI get slighty lag when playing Dragon Ball Legends on 5Ghz wifi channel. I Turned off Ofdma, mumiu and turned on dmz, ports sightly improved the lag. Im thinking to return the AX73 and get asus tuf 4200 if there is a chance

@@KutKitkk It is possible that the ASUS TUF-AX4200 may improve things, but before that, can you make some changes to the 5GHz network. Such as changing the channel so that it does not interfere with anything in the vicinity (use a non-overlapping one if possible) and you can also try to drop to the 40MHz channel bandwidth if you're in a very busy environment.

I bought this router on Amzn Prime Days for as low as 100 eur. Sounded like a great deal because of many enthusiastic reviews, but I returned it after a few days and got back to RT-AX58U V2. At my place Wifi performance is definitely worse, both for speed and range (btw, TUF always prefers DFS channel 64, RT always prefers 100 which performs way better here) web Gui is close to unusable, colors are too strong or even clearly wrong (black letters on dark background in some pages). Firmware is buggy (i.e. not reporting download speeds for sky q top box). The only positive is that TUF horrible web gui is more responsive.

That doesn't sound right. Are you on the latest firmware and did you try Merlin? If nothing works RMA it.

@@SamBondor Thanks for the fastest reply ever! Yes, I do confirm. Latest firmware. I can also confirm that a couple of devices far in my house corners get a signal only with RT (Outdoor Cam, Google Nest Hub). I would like to stress that my evidence only refers to my personal experience and location. I'll do a hard reset and will give it another try (I have another week before the return windows expires). Since RT is working flawlessly, I don't feel the urge to go for a second TUF sample, but I do appreciate the suggestion. Many thanks again.

Based on you suggestion, i found out I can install Merlin out of gnuton fork. RT-AX58u V2 even better, if possible (official firmware has a cosmetic bug on network map, btw).

@@ratforfun Open-source is almost always better than the OEM firmware. Hope that the bug will be solved though, it's a shame that the second version didn't get an 'official' Merlin version. But, well, time and money is always the enemy of open source developers.
