I bought this router on Amzn Prime Days for as low as 100 eur. Sounded like a great deal because of many enthusiastic reviews, but I returned it after a few days and got back to RT-AX58U V2. At my place Wifi performance is definitely worse, both for speed and range (btw, TUF always prefers DFS channel 64, RT always prefers 100 which performs way better here) web Gui is close to unusable, colors are too strong or even clearly wrong (black letters on dark background in some pages). Firmware is buggy (i.e. not reporting download speeds for sky q top box). The only positive is that TUF horrible web gui is more responsive.

@@SamsTechnologyReviews Thanks for the fastest reply ever! Yes, I do confirm. Latest firmware. I can also confirm that a couple of devices far in my house corners get a signal only with RT (Outdoor Cam, Google Nest Hub). I would like to stress that my evidence only refers to my personal experience and location. I'll do a hard reset and will give it another try (I have another week before the return windows expires). Since RT is working flawlessly, I don't feel the urge to go for a second TUF sample, but I do appreciate the suggestion. Many thanks again.

Update: The reason why some of the areas in the Nebula Cloud Controller were not populated was because it was Cloud-Saving Mode which is enabled automatically if the admin doesn't access the software for 30 days. Disabling this mode should return the controller to its default status.

The hardware is good but their software is terrible. I regret going all in on their Fit lineup. 😢 Also their lack of mesh support probably has something to do with them going with a different brand for the CPU.

Sad to break it to everyone, but BE7000 won't be able to support 6ghz because the FEM doesn't allow it on hardware level. Yes, technically the chipset is capable, but xiaomi sadly cheaped out on other parts down the chain. This also goes to their more expensive high end BE10000 router as they use the same thing.

What are those FEM? Looks unmarked to me. Also, TP Link have this habit of just quietly swapping up components like they did on their Deco series, makes it hard for me to buy one from them if I don't know what I'll be getting. I heard there's even 3 versions of their Deco X50 these days.

My notes say that they're Skyworks SKY85743 for 5GHz and Qorvo QPF4216 for 2.4GHz. And I do agree that this silent swapping of components is annoying at best and misleading at its worst. For example, I had no idea why AiMesh didn't work for years on my first gen RT-AC68U until I found out that ASUS has made it available for newer hardware versions only. And kept quiet about it while the forums were on fire years back...

Hi, thanks for your review. I built a new PC that features two Ethernet ports, namely 2.5 and 1 Gbps, which can be combined through Windows 11 settings. I therefore have the modem 2.5 Gbps port connected to the PC, and a TP-Link 1 Gbps port also connected to the PC. If possible, I would like to know if this router, once connected to a 2.5 Gbps WAN port from the ISP modem will pass on the signal intact to the Wi-Fi LAN as well, and not only to the 2.5 Gbps LAN Ethernet port. Thanks for any input.
@SamsTechnologyReviews
@SamsTechnologyReviews 7 күн бұрын
I hope I understood what you asked correctly. If your ISP gives you 2.5Gbps, the WAN port does support it as well, so that's the total bandwidth that you get available. The actual throughput that your client devices will see varies, but it should be above 1Gbps when near the router.
@paulorobertoelias8425
@paulorobertoelias8425 6 күн бұрын
@@SamsTechnologyReviews Thanks for your reply. Actually. the ISP gives me 1 Gbps. In my previous motherboard, I had one single 1 Gbps Ethernet port, which was connected to the ISP's modem's 2.5 Gbps output. As a result, I got speed results of about 980 Mbps. I then installed a 2.5 Gbps PCIe extension card, and hooked it up to the modem. The PC revealed around 1056 Mbps download (Speedtest measurements). I went forward by hooking up another Ethernet cable from my TP Link I Gbps port to the PC. The Internet speed, as expected, did not change, however I started to get faster website downloads, which indicates a larger data throughput. I did not have to do any further configuration, because Windows 11 combined the two 2.5 and 1 Gbps ports automatically. In the beginning of the year, I built a new PC, with the ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero, which has two Ethernet pots, namely 2.5 and I Gbps, and thus there was no need for a 2.5 Gbps adapter any more. The speed results were the same, though. At some point in the last built, I still could not find a router with a dual 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, so I kept the TP-Link 1 Gbps in use. I have always thought that the ideal built would be the 2.5 WAN and LAN in separate ports in the router, so that I could hook the modem's 2.5 port to the router, and from the latter to a 2.5 connection in the PC. Currently, I understand that both setups would work as intended. However, the RT AX-88U Pro has features beyond those required for my work load, so a replacement could be worthy. I am still not sure about doing this. That's why I asked you if the resulting Wi-Fi LAN from the Asus would benefit from the 2.5 Gbps route, i.e., modem to router, even considering my device's Wi-Fi adapters, which, as you know, will render whatever ISP speeds lower. At any rate, thanks again. Unfortunately the Asus router is not cheap in this country, so I cannot experiment and return to the seller if it fails to meet my expectations.

@@paulorobertoelias8425 So, basically, you currently use link aggregation between the PC and the TP-Link router? Can I ask what sort of model do you have? @@SamsTechnologyReviews Hi, thanks for your help. I have been using the TP-Link Archer AX73, in order to provide the 1 Gbps port to the PC. By the way, yesterday evening I got the Asus RT-AX88 Pro router delivered to me. My initial impression is that I have A LOT to learn about some settings of this router. At this point, I am not sure if the modem provided my ISP, the Sagemcom F@ST 5670, is LACP compatible, probably not. Also, the RT guidelines are not entirely clear to me about this support. I should have to connect two Ethernet cables from the modem to the router's WAN and LAN 4 ports. Well, the ISP's modem has the 2.5 Gbps port that I connected to the PC. In this case, I connected this port to the RT instead, and from the RTs 2.5 Gbps LAN port to the PC. This setup seems fine, even though previously I was getting a bit more than 1 GB from the ISP, and now around 984 Mbps. The other connection is now from the modem's 1 Gbps port to the RT's 1 Gbps LAN 4 port, according to the manual. This is not working, as far as I can see, and probably due to the lack of the LACP support from the ISP's modem. I phone today to the ISP's support, and they promised me to find out if their modem supports LACP. Currently, my subscription is for 1 Gbps only. At any rate, as I said, I still have a lot to learn. One thing that impressed me very much so far was the RT's Wi-Fi Smart Connect signal. I had this facility on the TP-Link AX73, it simplifies everything, but now the Wi-Fi signal is incredibly stable, as seen on my TV's streaming services and KZbin as well. While setting up cables, I disconnect the routers cable from the modem, but the streaming went on as if nothing happened. I still don't know why, but nevertheless I was pleasantly surprised!

You better disable Wireless Meshing next time, when testing. That can be done at AP level but better inside the whole site (Settings > System > tab: Advanced > scroll down, uncheck Wireless Meshing (and New WiFi Device Auto-Link, if you don't use that). Disabeling this, will stop the AP of sending out hidden networks (for the Meshing feature) and frees up memory. It also let you use more simultaneous SSID's on an AP. I think that for these tests, it will be good to disable it, since if you want to compare it against other brands' AP's, they would have an advantage.
