Great video!. I found this Asus model at my local thrift shop for $60.00 in its box. Mint condition, and all it needed was a new battery. I used your video to help me replace the battery. Thanks.

The same case. Two hinges cracked. I wasn't sure how to separate top and bottom after all screws unscrewed. I did not want to break something. The video immediately cut all doubts, but im my case I had to push a credit card all around the case to separate top an bottom.

@@tomeks666 I definitely had issues separating the two as well. I think I might have knocked something off, because although I've managed to fix the hinges, my keyboard is a bit messed up now as well as the trackpad 😅 If it's not one thing, it's another.

I was able to replace the hinge without any issues. I don't know if your audience is usually people who have messed with laptops before, but I did have to look for other videos in figure out how to properly remove the ribbon cables (I know you tried to explain and show this but it was difficult to figure out what I needed to do exactly). But I was able to fix it without breaking a different part of the laptop so thanks!!

I just disassemble this computer to set it in a 1 TB SSD. Although it was successful, God damn it was the hardest PC I have ever worked with it. By just this experience I am going to keep myself far away from Asus computers. Bad hinges and totally impossible to disassemble. A bunch of morons has designed and built this computer. I have never seen so bad build-up of the components, and I had disassembled a few computers, and no doubt about it, this is the worst. I want to give you a huuuge internet hug for an awesome tutorial. You deserve my like and subscribe card. Thanks, pal.

@@ItsBinhRepaired Just to inform you, it was my sister's PC. I had a water incident with my old computer and had to insert my old SATA SSD in her computer as my own only accept the new PCI system. I would never buy a computer that is that hard to disassemble. Again thank you. I have another question that you may know the answer to. I have just bought the Lenovo 14s yoga and in their manual sheet, it says you can only set in a second SSD that is up 1 TB. Does that mean if I insert a 2 TB SSD the BIOS won't accept it? Have you tried something that the manufacturers don't approve of? :)

Truly helpful video, perfect pacing and commentary, so thank you! You have some interesting comments, such as holding down the power button AFTER disconnecting the battery to discharge any remaining voltage--wouldn't have thought of that, so smart. Also love that you just use your fingernails, instead of the usual guitar pick-like tool that most people use. Yeah, I have tough fingernails too, and use them also for slitting cardboard boxes for recycling, as an example. Yeah, REAL men use their FINGERNAILS!! LOL! But yeah, this machine, that my wife likes so much since she used to have an Air. The hinges broke on it shortly after warranty expiration. Asus charged us like $250 to repair it, which was more than half of what we paid for the new machine. I tried to argue that it was a manufacturing defect, and they said, "No, our hinges have been tested for (like) 50,00 revolutions and have no problem". Afterwards, the OTHER hinge broke, and we purchased another of the same model on *bay. Eventually, yes, same thing. So we are really unimpressed with that make. Perhaps the problem is really, as you point out, with the SCREWS, and not the hinges as such. The new equivalent to this machine is no longer made of metal, as far as I can tell. But now I managed to cannibalize the remaining hinge from one machine to transfer to the other, and along with another new hinge, it seems just hunky-dory, so, again, thanks for your terrific video! It''s nice to be able to re-vive and recycle an older, perfectly usable machine.
@ItsBinhRepaired4 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah, fingernails are very useful. I don't understand why people are so against them... As for the hinges, a lot of times it's the hinge mounts that break. I usually replace the broken screw mounts and screws with jbweld, but it takes a lot of skill to fix and know what you're doing so you don't make things worse, so I don't show those types of repairs. Anyway, glad my video helped. If you haven't already, please like and subscribe. It'll really help me out. Thanks for watching!

Hi, do you know what the little metal tape-like stuff that is glued to the hinge inside the display compartment is? It's also attached to a little folded up "pillow" of the same material that is glued to the inner wall of the metal cover of the display. It needs to be taken off, I guess and then reattached during the hinge replacement. Is it part of the touchscreen functionality perhaps?
