Went through two of these before returning and picking up a Zenbook Pro 16X. The first one felt reasonably well built but suffered terrible software glitches and hardware errors. The second one felt like a cheap plastic piece of junk and was still buggy. The positives are the price and the beautiful screen, which by the way does NOT have the grainy screen door effect like touchscreen models. However, one of the models I tested had a highly irregular rippled glass that distorted and created color shifting. As mentioned, the CPU and GPU are a bit power limited, and can get quite warm. I can only recommend this laptop if you're on a limited budget, or really want an OLED panel and won't be pushing the GPU too hard. Amazon has a disclaimer of "frequently returned item", and I'm guessing it has to do with system instability or poor build quality control.

I paid £1184 (instead of £1999) for the 165hz 2.8K IPS version of this on Amazon. An absolute steal, no question about it. You get all the flagship specification of the OLED model. Weirdly enough, the sticker on the laptop says 3x2K OLED, and OLED clearly after the laptop's model number. Cooling is superb, and fans don't have a horribly high pitched whine like on the X16, X13 and Z13.

first of all: very nice review! In my opinion this is a very good laptop for the price point, especially with the screen. I really would like to buy this but the fact that there is so much plastic really scares me of. I need a laptop that can withstand the construction site as good as the normal desk. What i love about this vivobook is the fact that it has an RJ45 port and two USB-A ports plus a Num-Pad👍 What do you think about the MSI Stealth 16 Studio?

I tried two of the 4070 model. One was fairly solid, and the other felt like cheap plastic. The quality control on these is poor. If buying one, ensure that the seller offers a generous return policy. Otherwise, I'd look at the ProArt or Zenbook lines for solid OLED creator laptops.

On paper this could be a great laptop, even if they went cheap on the SSD and on the WiFi card on some European markets, they both can be replaced but with extra costs on something that it is already expensive. What is otherwise unacceptable is that the cooling system is not on pair with the good features of CPU and GPU, and this is made even worse by the way this laptop has been assembled. After 6 months since I bought it, basically it was throttling even on idle, and reading on the web where others with the same problem could not have it fixed by Asus assistance, I decided to have a look under the heatsink. Well, what I found made me thinking that to be ecological, Asus found convenient using clay as thermal compound. I have never seen something like that, the thermal paste in excess around the CPU was showing signs that at one point its diluent boiled, with micro-bubbles still visible on the then solidified paste. I replaced that with some old AS5 I had for years, and not so incredibly I had 10°-15°C less on idle and much less throttling. I mean: good quality thermal compounds are so cheap nowadays, saving money on them is just self-destructive. Beyond this, the laptop works better with risers, without it has the lower ventilation grid too close to the desktop. And, I don't know how the defect is spread, the hinges really look a bit too stiff, I can believe that this could develop in their detachment from the lid. But this is an easy fix job, just need to unscrew the self locking nuts that keep their springs tight.

1.Redefining the standard for creative laptops with the Intel Core i7-13700HX processor and studio-grade NVIDIA 40 series GPU. It's also equipped with ASUS IceCool Pro thermal technology, which can unleash a full 150W combined thermal design power (TDP) of this powerful CPU and GPU combo. 2. Enabling performance mode increases CPU power from the standard 55 W to a high performance of 105 W. 3. and allows both Intel Core CPU and NVIDIA GPU to run comfortably at a combined 150W thermal design power in Performance mode. Quoting from the Asus website, in this case, if the OLED screen of the vivobook, which comes with a 240W charging adapter, consumes 60-70W power, will it feed the hx processor with 150W or the RTX4060 with 140W? The specs, TDP and the thermal design all seem good and the absence of an OLED doesn't bother me since I won't be using the laptop screen for gaming anyway. The main reason to buy this laptop is for the OLED display. The build quality is lacking, the firmware is buggy, and the heating solution isn't the best. I'd look at comparable machines from Lenovo, or even 12th gen 3070 ti laptops with better build quality.

@@safouder hey dude, i just ordered exactly the same machine, the K6604JI-K8075W, i use it now since 4 days, (this video helped me a lot te make the decision), and i can tell you everythink about it ! it's really a great machine, i really happy using it, and i really recommand you to order it for many reasons: i ordered the same version, also with 16gb / 512go, now i removed the 16gb ram stick (samsung), and i installed a new kit (g skill ripjaws 32gb=2x16gb 4800mhz), now it works flawlessly, it was not the case at the 1st attempt, i only ordered 1 stik of 16gb g skill, and system was not stable at all, blue screen every 3 hours, so one of my friends told me that you should never mix different RAM on the same computer, so i swiped the samsung stik, and i installed 2 stiks of the same model of ram, and since that, everything works flawlessly. the CPU in this model is the i7 13650HX, very powerfull, not as fast as the i9 13980HX, but almost the same in most of applications, including me, for lightroom and premiere pro. but the advantage here is, thermal solution of CPU/GPU are one of best i ever seen, 8 copper heat pipes, it works reaaaaally well for pulling up all the heat + 2 powerfull fan and 4 exhausts, the combo work really fine, i also tested the ProArt StudioBook pro 16 OLED, it's exactly the same thermal solution, it's really designed to handle a powerfull CPU/GPU, so i totally approuve the thermal solution of this laptop. Screen: as i said, i tested the ProArt StudioBook pro 16 with the OLED 3.2K 120Hz, i guess it's the same monitor as the Vivo tested in this video, and it's not the best screen i ever tested, the is a very strange "grid effet layer" on the screen, visible even from 1 meter from the pc, especially on white color, task manager windows for example, it's so strange to look at, and not so convenient, i took a picture of the screen using a macro lens to check the problem, and i seen that the problem is the shape of the pixel it self, it's not a usual square shape like 99% of the monitors of the planet, but, feels like pixels on an entry level TV. this is why i decided to not buy the ProArt, and then, when i found this VivoBook pro with an IPS screen 2.7K 165Hz, i was SOOOOO happy !! i immediatly ordered it, and now i'm not disappointed, i'm really happy of it, very sharp, very color accurate, very fast (165Hz), AND very bright (500 nits, same brightness of the OLED pannel) ... i also really like the color of keyboard keys, look professionnal / vintage... may be the only down side : RAM: max 32GB, and nvme: only one slot, with max 2Tb. it can tell you more about this model, you can ask me questions.....

I really dislike the numpad and would never again buy a laptop with that design. It throws me off my typing and makes me less productive and efficient. I have an external numpad that I can use when I am doing number crunching which also is more ergonomic for me. So this would be an automatic fail for me, and I suspect it will have a negative impact on sales. Apart from that deal breaker there is little point going OTT about the displays in late 2023 as now great OLEDs are in even sub-$1000 laptops. The rest is just run-of-the-mill and nothing to set it apart from very competitive rivals.
