OK, so you got a computer dummy here I learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I do have a question in your video. You mention the Samsung external hard drive. I am going to buy the recommended. Asus computer that you featured. I need it for minimal things, but the main thing is so that I can facilitate saving my videos from the cloud and onto external hard drives for storage, freeing up all the space on my iPad for my actual video editing and recording work. It’s the perfect solution for me anyway I tend to make five and six hour workshop videos and their monsters to load up to KZbin but I hate having multiple part videos because people drop off when I have it as an entire workshop presentation for my artwork they tend to follow through the whole class and watch it sections. So my big question is on the Samsung external storage. The SSD I plan on buying a 1T cartridge. And looking at them, I see something about Read Speed . Some have a read speed of about 480. Others have a read speed of up to 2000. I am never going to be gaming on my computer. But is the 2000 speed that much better for uploading your videos to the SSD. Sorry for asking these basic questions. I just don’t have the right words or education to ask for the answers . So when you connect the SSD to your computer that has your videos stored in it and you want to work on one do you have to be able to upload it back to the computer or does it work right from the SSD when connected

Haha - cute. If your a serious video film making human this user is totally correct. If you need mobility then a full computer isn’t an option. I’m buying a laptop for my daughter, I have the extra money available to do this and for her level of up coming use a good laptop is what will fulfill her needs. If she starts making full length movies with loads of added layers then she will need to move to a powerful home computer with a large screen or three. We are moving away from Apple now also :) - Be well - you can get more power and better cost effective with a full computer and non Apple products. But if mobility is your need there are a lot of laptops that will do most work. He’ll I edit most of my social content on my phone 😂

We are comparing different arquitectures here Arm vs X86, Apple uses Arm and windows pcs use X86, just wait for the new Arm laptops with Snapdragon X elite inside and then you can compare apple laptops... but the problem here is that majority of windows software is based on x86 aquitecture and they have to change that to arm too, or emulation on top of it.
@taylork28746 ай бұрын
Maybe a stupid question but I'm learning.. Adobe Premier runs on ARM correct? Are there video editing softwares that require the x86? I only use Google docs/slides/sheets so unless there is something like photoshop or an editing software that needs x86, I wouldn't need something that runs x86 right?

We don’t really care about x86 vs Arm. Do you care about the motor in your car or truck? What about the engine in the airplane you’re on? No. As long as it works. Cool. Upvoting this for the excellent explanation of what makes a good mobile editing rig for the non-techie. The choices shown are far from Comprehensive, I usually point people toward gaming laptops (PC obviously) as they tend to have the same needs: Lots of CPU, lot's of GPU, Lots of Memory, Lots of storage. I currently edit on multiple ASUS 15" gaming laptops coming in at less then $600. They run DaVinci with relative ease and have been quite solid. I am looking for a main rig now, using the others to run renders while I continue to work. All this lets me stay supremely mobile as well.

I bought a small 14 inch laptop from Huawei because I need a small device that doesn't take up too much space on the table at school, bar, etc. I was initially tempted to get the Microsoft Laptop To go 2, 12.5 inches, but when I tested it in the store and saw that the screen was glowing and you couldn't see your work, I changed my mind. Next to Microsoft was this Huawei, which I also tested and I really liked the screen because it's matte and you don't see yourself in it like in a mirror, as it is on the Laptop 2. also, Huawei offers much more at a price almost 300 euros lower compared to Microsoft. In terms of appearance, Huawei seemed more luxurious to me, quality materials, and Microsoft only a cheap plastic, which gives you the impression that you are holding a toy in your hand. When I left home I was determined to get that Laptop 2, because I really liked what I saw on the net, I also liked the design, but when I saw it in reality.....I was disappointed . It was something like when you fall in love with a girl who sends you photoshopped pictures and when you see her in reality...you get scared.

I thought huawei was banned in europe (will i have problem taking huawei laptop to europe countrries)?

Hi , I hesitate between a MacBook Air M3 with 24 gig of RAM or a M2 MacBook Pro with 16 gig of ram because they come at the same price , what is the best for video editing ( Pr and Ae ) , I’m scared that the M3 air would be throttled by the lack of fan Thanks for this great video too !
@nasdoc18 ай бұрын
Pro is an exceptionally good machine. At the same price point, I would definitely go for the pro. 200$ more and push yourself to get the higher RAM version of the M2 pro. 200$ in the long run is nothing. Edit : unless you're making very high level videos, in which case you don't need the Air in the first place.
@haggaikathewela89107 ай бұрын
@@nasdoc1 but the M3 air with 24gb of ram is doing wonders than some M2 pro’s with less ram. The M3 chip is a beast .

This might be the best video out there! No one is better explaining this so good. But there is still things that is unclear for me. You recommended that Air model for 4K and even 6k editing. Will it work if I film in prores raw 4K, work with my own color grading and add plugins without a choppy editing experience in Premier Pro? 😊
@MrPaulXavier2 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! It's tough with computers because just because something CAN edit the footage doesn't necessarily mean it will edit nice and smoothly with no interruptions. Even my beast of a computer lags from time to time... I would say based on your situation, it would likely make more sense to go with a macbook pro
@Johansmat2 ай бұрын
@ thanks for reply. I was actually thinking of buying the new Mac mini m4 Pro. But what confuses me is that some say working with 4K, color grading and plugins can get a choppy experience even with M1-3 Pro chip. Some say there is no problem. So yeah wonder really if the M4 max is the better choice (wait for m4 studio) or if m4 Pro is enough. 🤔
@coolsquad7428Ай бұрын
@@Johansmat If your going to go mac with any kind of color grading and heavy 4k footage then I recommend the M pros or max as the regular m chips won't have the power to do it, as you will have lag and frame skips and possible app crashing. The difference between the pro and max is the gpu processing as they both have the same cpu power and performance.

Now there is a problem with expensive gaming laptops running on Windows. (no one develops laptops specifically for editors). For example, the display matrices of the flagship Asus Rog 18, Acer hpn 18 are of terrible quality. They are difficult to calibrate and give out an overly saturated picture, which goes into a reddish red. I don't understand what 100% sRGB the manufacturer is talking about. Plus, personally, my eyes get tired of these displays. Please share your tips, which fast laptop with an excellent 17-18 inch screen can I take on Windows? Or how can the problems of the above models be solved?

Unfortunately my experience with DELL has been only negative with all the problems I have had. It’s slow and problems with keyboard. My Apple desktop too is very slow. I had great run with HP Envy so far. I am now replacing DELL with HP 14” laptop with 32 gB memory and 1 TB HDD and a separate graphic card. Hope it runs without hassles.

I would really suggest getting a laptop with SSD internal storage not HDD. HDD drives will slow down the speed at which you can edit.

Hello, you are someone who has made a transition from a 2019 to mba, i have few question and perhaps you would be able to help me out, i am currently using a 2012 mbp, and i do 1080 edit and occasional 4k edits about less than a minute duration just a passion, with no issue what so ever, however recently i used one of my cousins 16 inches 2019 i9 i was baffled by the size of the screen, especially for someone who was using 13 inches 2012 for atleast 5 years while searching macbook in the second hand markets i can see 2019 16 inches and macbook air 13 m1 8gb variant, unfortunately there is no 16gb m1 available, and both are similarly priced cant decide should i go for a the large screen a large trackpad or should i go for the macbook air since my kind of workflow is not that daunting, would it actually stress the cpu that much since 2012 only kicked their cpu when i was exporting the project i usually add some musics transitions color correct and add overlays, nit much and the 2012 handles well running on sonoma open core, 16gb ram and 256 gb ssd

The specs of the computer i'm interested are these I9 32GB Ram Gforce 4060 (8 VRAM) 1 TB 2K resolution 240hz I intend in working with freelance video editing and also a youtube channel focused in gaming (AAA focused) the brand is Avell (Local brand here in brazil, it has a good reputation) Anyone have observations to make? right now i'm really not sure about 32 and 64 ram... It is quite expensive in this case to pay for 64. Edit: another version I've consideribly reduced the price by having and I7, 4050 (But 6Vram instead of 8) and 1080 resolution instead of 2k, all of that for 64 ram is it worth it?

An i9 in a laptop is completely pointless. The power requirements and heat output means that you'd realistically get better performance in 99% of tasks with an i7, for typically cheaper. Even highly threaded workloads don't benefit. I'd save the money and see if you can get more memory.
