I have had the sabertooth z77 for more then a year now. I really love the build quality and features coming from Asus boards. I am in the 3-4 year new build market so in another few years i will consider asus first. This guy, while sometimes a bit boring at parts undeniably knows the product and mindset of pc builders. Good vid.

Couple this board with the new Noctua Black/Grey fans and you have the beginnings of an awesome Monochrome Build. Interesting to get your thoughts on other components that would match these.

Do you have any idea what the VRM is like on the Gryphon compared to the others? As I understand it, with the Z87 the Gryphon did not have the full 8 phase VRM featured on the Sabertooth, with only 4 shared PWM drivers. Is it the same with this generation?

Hey guys, i really need a help here. I never build any PC on my own but currently thinking on building one for the purpose of having a workstation for a small studio. These are the parts that i'm thinking to purchase : Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark1 Corsair Vengeance Black 16 GB WDC SATA III Blue 1 TB Asus GTX 970 DirectCU II Corsair Carbine SPEC-01 Corsair CS750M APC BR1200 GI Power Saving Back UPS Pro Asus PA238 Q My questions are, is there any part that i should replace in terms of cost effective and is there any part in this build that will cause any bottleneck or basically any issues that may appear later on? Also, i'm thinking to SLI the graphic card later in the future when i have more money just to increase our productivity in the studio, will there be any problem with that? and what do i really need a water cooling solution for this build, just like everyone had been telling me? and If i do, what is the affordable but decent water cooling solution that you guys think i should get? Thank you so much for your time and answer, I sincerely hope that some of you can answer my questions. Have a good day!

no, u don't need water cooling, it would be nice if you plan on overclocking, but i'm not too familiar with that processor so i don't know what it's capable of. i would guess u don't need water cooling. u need to opt for an ATX chassis and at least 3 case fans, 2 exhaust and 1 intake minimum. exhaust out the top and back, intake from the front. elementary. and if you do go for water cooling, just get the preassembled self contained CPU loops that corsair sells. they can be had for about 70 bucks. easy and cheap

***** Go for the ANTEC HCG-850M for PSU.( your system doesnt nearly call for that much but if u ever plan on doing any upgrades, it will be nice to have the headroom.) I did HEAVY reading on it before i went in for the purchase and even though it's an 80+Bronze rating, everything about it is great for overclocking.(very stable voltages) i have my 4670K overclocked to 4.5Ghz stable at 1.240 with TWO MSI Twin Frozr 290X in crossfire (overclocked as well). I have had this setup now for 7 months now with 0 problems. Also, get 16gigs G.SKILL RipJaws 1600mhz cas7 or cas8 ram. They overclocked very well for me and from what I've read, that has been the general experience overall. ( I bought 2 sets of 4X2 G.Skill RipJaws 1600Mhx CAS8) coming out to all 4 slots filled and 16 gigs in total.

I'd think the 4790K would be better. I'd definitely want to overclock my CPU if I'm dropping $200-$250 on my mobo. But yeah should go well together.
@benjamins7229
@benjamins7229 9 жыл бұрын
yea, get the 4790k. and word of advice, get the mark 2. that thermal armor BS is a ripoff, its PLASTIC, strictly plastic. the only thing it protects from is dust, it in no way serves as 'thermal' armor. if anything, i would think it actually increases temps, i don't care what they say, theres no way covering up the chipset, decreasing airflow, lowers temps. no way at all, i may be wrong, but i seriously don't think that i am.

So... after all these years we are still having pc systems that look like village idiots compared to quantum systems. Aside from that it's been at least 5 years since we had a real jump in cpu performance in the 2600K / 3770K / 4770K segment. It's about damn time we get to unlocked 8-core / 16-thread cpus for the same price. Intel and AMD are just milking the status quo... I want to render some Mental Ray eye candy at usable times, so intel, please have a REAL, WORTHWHILE STEP FORWARD, since we are still slugging around in the CPU-world. 700-1000€ for a 6-core CPU with a little more cache and Quad-Channel support? Only stupid people with a load of money fall for this. Maybe I should just buy a 20nm Geforce and render with iRay after it's out...
