I picked this up to replace my aging Dell XPS laptop for my photography business; I was drawn in by the beautiful OLED display. Unfortunately, the version of Asus Splendid color management app for this computer does not have presets for the different color profiles that the screen is capable of. The marketing material brags 100% sRGB coverage but there is no built-in way to limit the gamut to sRGB only for photography and web use - you always get the full DCI-P3 gamut which makes skin tones over-saturated and orange looking. Luckily you can make your own profile using the Calibrite software and a colorimeter device; which got me to a ΔE of less than 3 which is good enough for on-the-road editing and shooting tethered.

If you have to bring the laptop out often and walk, get 14. If laptop stays home mostly, larger is okay

@@LearningAndGrowingInLife For me, I don't consider laptops with 16:9 displays. 16:10 is noticeably better for productivity, even if it's a smaller display. Regarding Framework laptop, the real question is whether you see yourself upgrading the individual parts. There's a higher likelihood to upgrade the battery when the battery capacity drops with usage, but for other parts not too sure. Also consider in a few years time, e.g. 5 years later, are you more likely to upgrade the whole laptop, or change out a few parts? Which is more worth the money?

Me too, I chose this. 8gb of ram and 256gb SSD is not a lot. Macbooks can make do with less ram but not that much less

Omg this is an amazing review. Solid with everything that anyone would be doing w a laptop. Thanks for testing out video editing capabilities - i tried to find review of davinci on other videos and so little people showcase video editing capabilities for mid end laptop. Is the battery life of about 6-8 hours still true when editing videos?

Battery life will be much lower with video editing because that uses more power and fans will spin throughout

Hi Teoh, can you recommend a portable Windows tablet/2 in 1 that can draw nice straight digonal lines? Have tried the Surface Pro 9 demo unit in the store but wasn't convinced about the line quality (need to turn on stabiliser for wobbles); Huion Kamvas Studio 16 price point was out of reach for me; Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 have screen crack issues if the user not gentle enough.

The options you mentioned are those that I think of too. So there are pros and cons to them. The thing is if you already have a computer then, you may not need a Surface Pro unless you really need to use those Windows apps all the time. I can’t think of other products

@@teohontech7141 Thank you for your thoughts 😊 I have a 2.5kg mid tier 6yr old laptop at home and I need a portable tablet so I can draw using Photoshop/CSP outside , doing Blender while connecting to old laptop via Anydesk remote app. If the above options unavailable, what is your top choice for non standalone/regular drawing tablet with touchscreen? Prioritise on pens that can draw nice straight diagonal lines and light enough to put inside backpack

@@lesile3016 I would probably ask you to consider the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 but I've not personally used that before. I'm just not sure how widespread the screen crack problem you mentioned is. S Pen is sensitive so you don't really need to apply that much pressure for drawing anyway. Huion Kamvas Studio 16 has great drawing performance and is overall very responsive. But battery life is just 4 hours.

It can be used for programming but it's not ideal because the screen aspect ratio is 16:9. You should look for laptops with displays that use at least 16:10 or the best 3:2 for programming. When display is higher, you can see more lines of code, and that will be more productive for programming.

Nice review :) quite a good performing laptop for 1.4kg These AMD U CPUs are very nice for battery life, and the integrated graphics (Radeon 680M) is surprisingly capable for graphic tasks. I think this laptop can perform roughly on par or better than the Steam Deck at gaming too.

Huion Kamvas Studio 16 was available in my country but sold at usd2500 than usd1700 on outdated hardware but produce quality lines
