Hi! Do you think this is a great option for my personal dev projects? Will be using a lot on the lap / go and late nights before sleep. Nothing grand scale, maybe some very light random gaming when Im not at my desktop. I just build small scale hobby projects with an editor, browser, docker container, web server and watch videos. My other option is the vivovook S 16 which has a higher 3.2K res for some reason lol, bit thicker chassis for cooling and more TDP but same weight.

I think your overall experience between these two will be relatively similar, but the Zenbook is much better built than the Vivobook. For such a large laptop to have tiny Up/Down arrow keys. That thing is big enough to have a TKL or 65-70% keyboard. How much would it take to move that Down arrow key lower by 10mm and widen the arrow keys vertically by 50%? Or have an extra row of keys on the right so it can have Home/End/PageUp/PageDown keys? Reviewers NEVER point out how Asus laptops are flimsy, cheaply built, and completely fall apart outside of warranty.
@NotebookcheckReviews5 ай бұрын
And how do you expect us to test that? This one is definitely not flimsy nor cheaply built, and we simply have no way of testing all notebooks beyond their warranty or even somewhere close to that.

The occasional long-term review wouldn't hurt...or maybe consulting trusted consumer reports platforms. ASUS may have good tactile (materials) quality, but they are not well put together, and I've had horrible experiences with them. They cut corners, and I could never recommend one.

Hmmm here me out…. I hate asus, i bought 3 laptop from them for the past 9 years (a vivobook, an rog strix, and a tuf a15) and they fell apart outside warranty years just as you said. I end up with iPad and a desktop now cause i was basically traumatized by windows laptop. But 2 of my colleges buy the latest zenbooks and they have amazing build. You need experience before speaking.

Have a 17-inch Strix laptop that I got in 2019. Mined on it 24/7 for 2 years as well, battery disconnected. Other than one fan that I replaced, it has been solid. After ETH went stake it has been my work/gaming laptop as well as on trips and playing at a friend's. It's even been halfway around the world twice, I can't fault it.

Extremely disappointing performance especially on the GPU front, I think Intel is about to destroy them on cpu, Gpu and efficiency in couple months, last year they lost their massive gpu lead now they are about to lose the rest
@abhishekmaurya46654 ай бұрын
I don't know about that but the strix halo apu is expected to perform on par with 4070, so at least 50 series mobile GPUs will be obsolete just like previous MX series, and mind you this current system is a 28 watts all in one SoC, which is destroying 50 watts meteor lake laptops, I am sure that higher powered variants will be launching soon. Lunar lake's specs from Intel are lower than this one in every aspect. Only shot Intel has to overturn this is through arrow lake and that's 3rd quarter of 2025

@@NotebookcheckReviews Sorry for the late reply… Watching the Olympic Games is all what I do these days! 😊 I believe the main selling points of this laptop are its stunning OLED display and sleek design. However, it’s disappointing that a 16” laptop is limited to just two ports, especially since one of the USB-C ports is used for power. ASUS seems to prioritize making a thin, mobile laptop without adequately addressing the heat generated under the keyboard, resulting in a poor cooling system. The chip is mediocre and struggles with processing 4K video in Premiere Pro. Additionally, it’s not upgradable, with soldered memory and no option for additional storage. It’s 2024, and they’re still pushing 1TB storage, which is quite frustrating! The price is $1,700!!! Personally, I’d prefer to buy an older 4K touch laptop with an i9 12th gen processor, RTX 4070/4080, 32GB memory, and 2TB storage (factory specs) rather than risk it with this good-looking but underperforming laptop. From my experience, it’s better to wait until the end of the year to get a better thin laptop with more I/Os if that’s what users are after!

Another apple wannabe product. This is a 16 incher notebook for god sake. Done right with the AMD chip. But should put a full keyboard with num pads. And get those baby direction key bigger. If they done know how to do it right, copy that champion lenovo legion layout. Don't be stingy with ports, only one USB A? Serious shot? Are they drunk or something? Pay more to get less? Must at least 4 of them, two c.

@gunta.4 ай бұрын
Maybe, but if you need a fully compatible Windows x86/x64 Laptop today, you still need to choose between AMD and Intel only. And the power efficiency of the AMD Zen4/Zen5 is similar to Qualcomm's ARM (but with full x86/x64 App compatibility).
@yogeshnaidu58194 ай бұрын
@@gunta. AMD battery life is no match to QC. Just read Toms hardware review. They test it all out. 2025 X elite gen 2 will destroy x86 once and for all. By then sw issues will be sorted. Same year Mediatek and Nvidia coming with arm chip, again x86 will be destroyed. End of x86 era.
