Hi! Do you think this is a great option for my personal dev projects? Will be using a lot on the lap / go and late nights before sleep. Nothing grand scale, maybe some very light random gaming when Im not at my desktop. I just build small scale hobby projects with an editor, browser, docker container, web server and watch videos. My other option is the vivovook S 16 which has a higher 3.2K res for some reason lol, bit thicker chassis for cooling and more TDP but same weight.
@NotebookcheckReviews
@NotebookcheckReviews 3 ай бұрын
I think your overall experience between these two will be relatively similar, but the Zenbook is much better built than the Vivobook. While the Vivobook might offer slightly better performance, the Zenbook might have the edge in terms of battery life. Unfortunately, we have not yet tested the Zen5 Vivobook, so it's quite hard for me to give you a proper recommendation here.

I mentioned in Snapdragon X reviews that best wait for the new AMD and glad I did. This is easily superior to the Surface Laptop 15 that would cost more with the same spec. No competition really. Not a fan of ASUS so I may wait for rivals but this is one of the best Windows ultrabooks currently in circulation; better than Core Ultra Intel and X Elite.

X elite still win s in battery life, i also never hear my fan since it never runs full load no matter how many apps and tabs and videos i have open. AMD only wins in gaming which i have zero interest in on a ultrabook. I have a gaming pc for that. AMD Also uses a mediatek wifi which is garbage and still a crappy webcam. Glad I didn’t wait for strix.

I would say overall build quality is a bit better, since it feels a lot more dense and the screen is stiffer if not perfect. The Speakers are good, but the G16 is definitly still king when it comes to that. You should get an impression from our speakers test.

My Vivobook s16 charges, but the chargers (Ugreen and Baseus latest models, tested with different cables from reputable brands) send a light electric charge on the chassis. For such a large laptop to have tiny Up/Down arrow keys. That thing is big enough to have a TKL or 65-70% keyboard. How much would it take to move that Down arrow key lower by 10mm and widen the arrow keys vertically by 50%? Or have an extra row of keys on the right so it can have Home/End/PageUp/PageDown keys? I know that media creators are an important target market, but aren't coders and writers too? Just because Apple is doing it on their 16-inch Macbook doesn't mean everybody else should too.

XMG sort of promised to release this chip in 2025 when SO-DIMM support arrives and seeing they allowed the CPU to stretch its legs in their new Evo models, an upgraded Evo with the 370HX running at 50W+ could be a very powerful ultrabook.

Might depend on their chosen gameplay scene! Ours is very demanding, and we test without FSR. I also noticed that fps in GOT fluctuate A LOT dependent on where you at and what you are looking at. "not too shabby, "it has six speakers and some have compared them to be close to the Macbook speakers. Most reviewers have said they are very good. Your reviews are terribly scripted and lack a personal touch. You left out the sound quality to the very end, a feature most of us consider very improtant, afnd that " not too shabby commnet obiviouly failed to give them the attention and praise they deserved, Also, whilte going over all of your benchmarks, you fail to mention thermals, which are of great concern to a lot of us. who do not like hot laptops. I give you an E for effort, but I can't go any further than that. I hope your reviews get better in the future. Good luck. Thumbs up overall.

Thank you for your feedback. I guess prioritizing what is most important in a laptop is always a very subjective thing, out of ten people everyone would give you a different answer about what is most important for them. We have thermals in our noise samples, and as I mentioned right before, in incredible detail on our website. But since this was mentioned by a few more of you, I will look into ways to integrate it in our videos. Again, thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts, that always helps us to improve our content!

The occasional long-term review wouldn't hurt...or maybe consulting trusted consumer reports platforms. ASUS may have good tactile (materials) quality, but they are not well put together, and I've had horrible experiences with them. They cut corners, and I could never recommend one.

I don't know about that but the strix halo apu is expected to perform on par with 4070, so at least 50 series mobile GPUs will be obsolete just like previous MX series, and mind you this current system is a 28 watts all in one SoC, which is destroying 50 watts meteor lake laptops, I am sure that higher powered variants will be launching soon. Lunar lake's specs from Intel are lower than this one in every aspect. Only shot Intel has to overturn this is through arrow lake and that's 3rd quarter of 2025

@@NotebookcheckReviews Sorry for the late reply… Watching the Olympic Games is all what I do these days! 😊 I believe the main selling points of this laptop are its stunning OLED display and sleek design. However, it’s disappointing that a 16” laptop is limited to just two ports, especially since one of the USB-C ports is used for power. ASUS seems to prioritize making a thin, mobile laptop without adequately addressing the heat generated under the keyboard, resulting in a poor cooling system. The chip is mediocre and struggles with processing 4K video in Premiere Pro. Additionally, it’s not upgradable, with soldered memory and no option for additional storage. It’s 2024, and they’re still pushing 1TB storage, which is quite frustrating! The price is $1,700!!! Personally, I’d prefer to buy an older 4K touch laptop with an i9 12th gen processor, RTX 4070/4080, 32GB memory, and 2TB storage (factory specs) rather than risk it with this good-looking but underperforming laptop. From my experience, it’s better to wait until the end of the year to get a better thin laptop with more I/Os if that’s what users are after!

Maybe, but if you need a fully compatible Windows x86/x64 Laptop today, you still need to choose between AMD and Intel only. And the power efficiency of the AMD Zen4/Zen5 is similar to Qualcomm's ARM (but with full x86/x64 App compatibility).
