With your video I was able to fix my Asus Zenbook with Dualscreen. Same Problem, suddenly no power. So I had to buy a thermal camera. Problem was also a shorted cap. Replaced and works like charm. Thank you so much for posting this video!!!

I've have found and confirmed the Asus adaptors are the source for causing most mother board shorts. Both your original power adaptors were broke. Bet the customers is the same and caused the short as well. 👈👉🤯With this happening to me twice I immediately replace my new Asus's power adaptor with a different brand from BestBuy. Never had an issues ever. Works like a charm even a year and half later. 👈😲👍

Great repair! This is situation when thermal camera is worth more than pure gold, without TC will be soooo difficult to find that capacitor due to small heat dissipation. Great job!

Those universal PSU's are handy to have, I couldn't imagine not having one. Of course if you get one, get one with many various adapters as possible so you're not so limited. Most all laptops work anywhere between 18 to 20 volts, so most universals should work. Then there's also universal PSU's with different voltage selections, those are also nice to have around.

As always, really impressive how fast you locate the proplem and how proper you self it! Love it! Got a question, as I own this notebook myself. After removing coolers and unplugging fans for repaste, gpu fan is faulty. No pwm signal I assume, cause with plugged pwm cable is not running, with unplugged pwm cable, fan runs full throttle. Is it more likely the mainboard or the fan to be faulty in this case?

@@bryanswaggbeast4594 He hasn't been dodging that question. As the comment above said, yes he has probably 10+ dead donor boards that he can go and check any capacitor's capacitance. But as he has stated multiple times, he has years of experience working on these boards and he literally approximates the capacitance of the cap and usually gets it right. Usually it's 10 uF. I wouldn't be surprised even if the capacitance he guessed is way off that the board would work just fine.

In the context of most logic boards, the majority of SMD capacitors are only used for reducing voltage ripple, which reduces EMI and potentially improves stability. Realistically, the device can run without those capacitors, assuming that the power delivery is reasonably good, and it really shouldn't be sensitive to different capacitance, within reason. The only times where capacitance would matter would be either a low-pass filter, or an analog timer circuit.

More times than not a bad power adapter can be easily repaired, no need to throw them out. Most are easy to get into and I have found most times it is a blown capacitor. I know these are not that expensive but the cost of replacing them adds up fast and its worth a few dollar part to try and fix them!

The way it works with all automotive dealers and OEM's is they only keep records and provide key codes and or fobs for the last 20 years, after that all records are deleted. I'm a professional auto locksmith that's how I know.

I would have liked to see a repair on the adapters. Maybe you would consider it dangerous to work on power supplies, but they need to be respected and treated like any other repairable equipment.

Well i have a hp elitebook 855 g8 laptop and the cap that is short in this laptop is blown in my laptop cause the ic is same and it connects the Vin of the ic and ground. Without the schematic i cant know the capacitance of the capacitors can you tell me what is the caps capacity? And voltage rating? The cap that you removed and the other cap near that cap in parallel. Both of the caps are fried in my laptop motherboard but the laptop still charges and runs fine but i am noticing that the laptop battery percentage decreases about 6%per day while powered off is this normal or because of the blown caps??

The charger of asus laptops that there is a problem after the rubber cover and the wire has a buldge and position to power it on, check it, We encountered 2 times with same problem.
