ASUS Zenscreen Touch Review Follow Up - Using Games Consoles HDMI Vs USB C PS4 Switch Mini Analogue

Follow up to my review video of the ASUS Zenscreen Touch MB16AMT portable monitor. I take a look at answering some of the most common questions about how you can get the best out of games consoles using this screen.
We try Playstation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch, SNES Mini & the Analogue Mega SG, whilst discussing the ways to optimise charging for the best set ups. Whilst it would be very difficult to show with every console available, I have at least tried to cover the main different types. PlayStation= Home consoles, SNES Mini/Analogue= Retro emulators (5v) & Nintendo Switch= Hybrid portables.

Hey! What power does that powerbank/external battery output? 15v and 2.6 A/39W is needed, as I read, so I am curious. Also your findings are relevant to the not touch version of this display, am I right?

Hi man, you are good with those devices and all the connections, how can I connect Asus Zenscreen MB16AC (with only one USB-C port, w/o battery) to the smartphone which does not support usb alt mode? Will the zen book run off a usb c plug (ie a usb-c one or an apple plug) that way all need to do is plug in a Hdmi to Micro hdmi ? Edit: just realised this isn’t the one that I was just about to buy in Argos tomorrow , 😐 they don’t have this model.

No. No noticeable lag. Although I did find for darker more realistic games, the lower brightness on the Zenscreen wasn't ideal. But for more colourful games it's perfectly adequate

Hi Christophe, search on your local Amazon for "B078RZQJ8D" that's the HDMI adapter I used. Only use with the official Nintendo power supply though.

@@christophenguyen5340 if I recall , it’s something to do with the Voltage for the switch , Nintendo can’t guarantee that other power supply’s will give the correct voltage the switch needs to run, the only reason I know this is I thought I’d lost mine , but thankfully I eventually found it in a box .

Is the Satechi dock a HDMI adapter? I Know Satechi brand and most of their stuff is Thunderbolt which the Switch doesn't support. But if it's a standard USB-C to HDMI adapter then it will be the power input, so try it with the official Nintendo power adapter or a PD (Power Delivery) certified charger

Yeah, you will likely find that the USB output from your notebook will also be able to provide constant power all day. So just one plug socket for your notebook will provide power for both with HDMI set up.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed. No, the Switch Lite definitely has no video output capacity at all but people asked thinking that the USB C DisplayPort might be possible instead of HDMI , so why I included to show it doesn’t.

Yeah. Via USB A it just works like a standard touch screen input device with Windows 10. But if you have a USBC 3.2 port on your machine, then it will do both video and touch via the single cable.

Yes. If using the HDMI mode, the USB-C port is free to be connected to a power source.

You can’t. You have to have a HDMI enabled version to use with Nintendo Switch.

Like the PlayStation it will work via HDMI only. So just make sure you buy a version with HDMI. As there are some versions of the Zenscreen range that only have USBC DisplayPort.

Yes! The only thing missing compared to the one I reviewed here is tough screen. But that isnt functional for games consoles, so the MB16AHP is perfect.

Yeah. You can charge from console USB or use the battery for about 2 hours without a USB cable.

No In short. PS5 doesn’t do DP video output. There might be a converter somewhere for HDMI to DisplayPort but then there’s the power issue. It would probably be more expensive than just buying a HDMI upgrade.

The OG switch Yes via HDMI. So only models of the Zenscreen with HDMI and using the dock. No DisplayPort via USB C.
