Thanks for posting this. I'm going through something similar with a 4090 having high hotspot temps and I ordered this putty in case the thermal pads need replacing. It is not easy to find the exact specs and diagrams online and very few go through the trouble fixing thermals let alone measuring. Sorry you had to go through all this but watching it gives me hope that I can be successful as well.

Yeah, UX Pro is a little stiff compared to other options. The current best putties are Honeywell HT10000, Upsiren UTP-8, Fehonda LTP81 and Laird T-Putty 607, although I suspect Laird T-Putty 910 will be right up there with Honeywell HT10000, just hard to get T-Putty 910 currently as it is fairly new. UX Pro does work well in Videocards, but is too expensive if you ask me, and UTP-8 is slightly better, much softer, and much cheaper.

@steezegod2768 Will try to make dedicated videos from some more putties. I've got streams of them all so folks can see what they look like for application. The result charts are located at the Google Drive link in my video descriptions (Test Chart Repository >VRAM TIM

@@snarksdomain Do these putties dry out and degrade cooling performance over time, just like the pads? I'm looking for a permanent solution so that I don't have to open up my GPU constantly.
@snarksdomainАй бұрын
@@user-f1ff23 The depends on the quality of the Silicone OIl used as the carrier fluid. Some are better than others. The Putty that set the bar high so far has been TG-PP10 (Discontinued). Many of these other putties are much newer so we don't have great long term data on them yet. Honeywell HT10000 is good for at least 2 years so far (from what Eugeney_KH told me of his customers' experiences). Upsiren UX Pro Ultra was still soft for me after 16.5 months in my laptop. TG-PP10 was soft after 2.5 years use in my 3090 with Copper shims. We should have an idea over the coming years as to which ones can match the longevity of TG-PP10. That being said, even once putty does stiffen it should still transfer heat okay. The trick is to pair it with something on the core that will last just as long, and for that I recommend Honeywell PTM7950 or similar PCM.

Usually the gpu is the easy one to cool but the cpu is the hot one. I used noctua nth2 and the gpu was chill at around 74 degrees but the cpu went up to 100 degrees. I’m gonna try ptm next.

I am also having issues with zephyrus m16. I should replace all cooling components. I am thinking replacing with 0.5 thermal pads. This is not user friendly at all from Asus.. Thanks for trying out! What happened actually when you launched with pads? did it turned off or temps were too high?
@wage66813 ай бұрын
the gpu got too hot and shut off the computer due to making zero contact with the heatsink. the thermal pads were too thick. it's easier to just use paste on the vrms.

@nunoxu9696Ай бұрын
Yes you can use Arctic mx4 for the vram and vrms but i would recommend whaever your laptop used for example thermal pads or thermal putty. For thermal pads you have to be careful of the pads thickness.

@@nunoxu9696 its melted can't differnentiate between thermal pad and thermal putty so ordered k5 pro for varm and vrms watched bobofalltrades channel he used same like that and temps for really really low after repasting so i am gonna go with k5 pro for vramand vrms

just use k5 pro, its the closest thing you can get to the factory blue stuff, for cpu use liquid metal and for gpu use MX6. MX4 is ok but it doesn't last that long on bare cpu/gpu die's as it pumps out due to its low viscosity.
@danielphillips11714 ай бұрын
There are a million better putties than k5 pro. This person has done significantly more research than yourself.

@@danielphillips1171 on this particular laptop k5 pro works the best, its the closest you're going to get to the stock blue stuff Asus uses. most users eho get bad results either use too much off it or too less. there is a perfect balance and it works really well paired with Conductonaut for CPU and MX6 for GPU.

@@pvim You want her to use a worst thermally conductive paste? That's nonsense, she did great research, and execution (while having to redo it) shows excellent results. Downvoting that opinion fs.

bro you just downgrade from liquid metal to regular thermal paste.
@Chronox2k42 ай бұрын
Bro , he did the right thing. It is not worth the risk to use liquid metal for 3-4 degrees. You risk fucking up your entire machine. Better go with thermalpaste or thermalpad.
