Something I didn't realize I missed from the first game until Side Order brought it back is how when you enter a boss level, the boss is just *there.* It's already present on the battlefield like in S1, but now there's no fancy intro or buildup, it's just _there_ waiting for you.

@@Parallel_26parallel canon is basically the same as the others, they just drop in like you do, theres no fancy intro (well, there is but it only gets played once), or buildup, but if you look at it differently the part where they drop in is basically a buildup if you think so

God everything about the fight and its aesthetics are just... creepy as hell. -The arena and boss are based around a type of Prison known as a Panopticon, a round chamber lined with cages with a watchtower in the middle that watches over the cages all at once, and it's notable for constantly keeping prisoners on edge by not knowing if they're being watched; in this case, Rondo IS the watchtower, looking in all directions with searchlights. -Compared to other Machine-centric bosses in the series, this one feels... wrong. Other bosses like it (most similar being the Octo Oven from 2) have a lot of personality and liveliness to their animations, but this one is almost entirely static in its movements. -Meanwhile in the sound department it sounds like a cacophony of tortured souls. All its clips are based off snippets of Ebb & Flow but chopped up in such a way it sounds like whatever the hell is inside of its metal plating is suffering. -Oh yeah on that note, the uhhh noises it makes when doing its Spin... thing are just disturbing, like whatever's inside the machinery are crying in pain over something they can't control. It's like someone on the devteam looked at Man-At-Legs from Pikmin and thought 'That's cool but we can do worse' and gave us this abomination.

I adore how freaky this thing is. Just a bunch of screaming/"singing" rings with, at most, vaguely face-ish (though they don't look like faces to me) blobs on it.

This might be my favorite boss. Its a panopticon prison, it makes crazy noises that is both disturbing but also super cool and makes me want to hear more of it. Now if only it can show up in my runs more.... I hope the sounds get uploaded. Apparently its supposed to be a distorted Ebb and Flow, I want to hear it stitched together lol.

Just for future reference, if you shoot the gloopy droopy ink faces on each of the rotators, youll do WAAAY more damage and defeat the layers faster!

Fun fact If you listen closely, you can hear it saying “I’m go-onna get you” and when it starts spinning like crazy, once again if you listen closely, it repeatedly says “stop, stop, Stop, STOP, STOP, STOP, STOP” as if it’s being forced to try and end our run

The "I'm gonna get you" part is probably the first line of Ebb & Flow's chorus, since most of its voice clips are just chopped-up bits of that song's chorus. The "stop" part (and most of those creepy screams it makes) is just the long note at the end of the chorus

Just like pretty much single song in splatoon with lyrics, Its not saying anything in specific. All of the lines rondo has are actually just the lyrics of Ebb and Flow, except that they have been distorted beyond recognition and they are also played randomly so it comes as total, unrecognizable and tortured gibberish Fun fact: this was found by looking at the game files. The lines for rondo, when played in the correct order, they all form the Ebb and Flow lyrics.

This boss' design is so damn awesome, he's my favourite boss in possible the whole series a panopticon isan ideal prison design where all the cells are completely separate, and surround a single watch tower that patrols all of them periodically with a spotlight The OST for this boss is called 0ct0ptic0n, and the boss arena is surrounded by giant prison cells. The boss uses a giant spotlight to try and find you I love this boss

shoot. the faces. (they're opposite to the searchlight that you can DODGE by diving into your ink or hiding behind cover, try to ink its base if you got poison ink upgrades so that you can slowly deal some damage while you refill your tank.

) oops, also take into account that for every floor you destroy, you will have to ink over the base again, and also the bounce pads are goated use them so much they get you out of literally all kinds of trouble
