Well maybe they based it on the Coroika manga. Gloves (who is Agent 4) had chosen Order, and Rider (Agent 3) had chosen team Chaos. What makes my theory a lil' inaccurate is that Hachi (Agent 8) was also on team Order, so I'm quite lost there. Also realized that that guy (whose name I forgot) that had been mind controlling team Order basically foreshadowed the DLC, especially his glasses' design which is really close to Marina's when she's mind controlled.

Gotta love that this battle and the name "Altered Cannon" is like Meta-reference about how the agents were different according to the person who is playing, reason why there were a lot of Inklings, males and females with different hairstyle, it's like they were saying that there is a lot Splatoon parallel universes (the same as the number of players who played Splatoon 2)

Well, the game check your Splatoon 2 save file and pick the hairstyle of your Inkling. Trust me, for me too, the hairstyle of MY version of the boss have the same hairstyle as my Inkling in Splatoon 2.

I have a theory about Agent 4's disappearance from Splatoon 3, and I hope I'm wrong about it. Off the Hook knows who Agent 4 is; they met them prior to the DLC and likely right after Octo Expansion was finished. Pearl forgot who they were, but still remembered the agent was meant to become a sort of "big shot" until they disappeared. Now, as for Palettes, Marina implies that these are supposed to the representation of an individual's soul that was pulled by the Order AI into the Memverse, but for unknown purposes. When we discover Agent 4's Palette, the two are shocked it's even here, meaning that the Inkling had an encounter with Order that caused their soul to be transported to the Memverse in the first place. And considering Agent 4 was a candidate for the Memverse's security, until Order rejected them due to their chaotic nature, I believe the AI still had plans for Agent 4 but in a different way than was intended. This is where the Parallel Canon comes in. The Parallel Canon is a Splatoon 2-themed Inkling. They have the default hair for the game's female Inkling and have hints of either yellow or orange in their hair, the same color that Agent 4 tends to wear in most Splatoon 2 artworks. From what I can gather, based on the purpose of Palettes and Parallel Canon's appearance, the latter is either Agent 4 themself who was stripped of their free will (like Order does with most things) or its Agent 4's soul placed in an artificial intelligence to guard the Memverse, just in a different way than Agent 4 had intended. Yeah, this doesn't make much sense to me, either. I'm trying to put together something from a very unserious, yet still very serious franchise.

It's confirmed that Marina wanted to have Agent 4 as a sort of security force for the Memverse, they succumbed to Order and was transformed into Parallel Canon as a sort of "Order Defense Force" as he calls it

When the cutscene first played it showed an inkling that used my S2 Hairstyle and I was like "Oh god they read my save" but no I just think its random. Edit: Found out via comments + extra research. It does in fact use your S2 data for the leader clone! Our pasts haunt us all!

Parallel Canon IS Agent 4, at least the middle Inkling that spawns first during the intro is. Not only does that Inkling pull your Agent 4 data from Splatoon 2 if you have that game, but it's mentioned in their Palette bio that Marina wanted them to be a sort of security force for the Memverse and how that strength should instead be used for an Order Defense Force

And Agent 4 had to be inside the Memverse on the trial launch day (aka same day as the events of Side Order) since they're supposed to be security for the simulation, so Order had the real deal to work with already

I love that this DLC keeps the "fight yourself" tradition. I loved to see that in Octo Expansion, and it being here is neat. This fight is obviously you fighting Agent 4 in a way, like Agent 3 before, but this fight is more so a fusion of that and the octoling rendesvouz, with the wave fights. It's like they wanted to have both concepts in, but decided to have them merged. This is so much a fight yourself thing that they even have their own drone to balance things out, that's neat. Speaking of the drone, did Order just copy Pearl drone extremely fast or how?

Yeah when I came across this level, I could not stop saying that they are not Octolings. Their AI has been ramped up quite a bit. I feel like they predict your movements. But I do love a good challenge.

The thing that makes me think we’re actually fighting 4 in this boss is the Parallel Mask item that Cipher sells. In the spawning animation when the one with 4’s hair (literally the same as our Splatoon 2 Inklings) rises from the ink, it looks like a mask. If only in your initial run defeating Parallel Canon the mask falls off and 4 joined you in the elevator. It would’ve been so nice to finally see them safe and OK again. Oh well, maybe we’ll get to see Four in Splatoon 4. It is their number after all!

It is. and It isn't at the same time. Parallel Canon no doubt is connected to Agent 4 (possibly because their soul is being used) because the hairstyle will default to what you picked in splatoon 2 (if you have Splatoon 2) same way how Captain Agent 3 and Agent 8 have their Default to what you chose in the Octo expansion dlc of splatoon 2. It isn't Kinda in the same way how Inner Agent 3 and Agent 3 Arent the same because The inner agent 3 fight Takes place within Agent 8's Head. So Yes This is Agent 4 but at the same time It's Different entirely. This is Realistically a Inner agent 4 fight.

Not really. It's not 4 at all I have seen other gameplays and the hairstyle generally its not the same (i see one where the inkling have the default inkling girl hair of splat 1) It's mostly a random inkling

Yes. If you have transfered save data from Splatoon 2, the hairstyle depends on which one you chose for your Inkling. And according to their Pallette, Marina wanted 4 to be some security for the Memverse.
