These chinese machines use a very specific rockwell C scale where the C stands for cheese! Very nice work, like all your videos.

I'm curious about the epoxy granite. The composite might be pretty good at damping resonances in the cast iron - or not. I've never seen how machine designs are tested for resonating chatter, other than empirically. I wonder if it's possible for something like Fusion360 to simulate it from given materials and forces?

There are several hi-end machines of various brands that are using such foundations, eg. Studer. Have a look at their website (just Google granitan, which is their name for the secret recipe 😀 )

Hehe.. sweet sound.. music in my ears. PS! I don't remember what source I used, ie. if it's a Packard built- or a genuine RR Merlin ie. could also be a Spit (or a Hurricane actually) 😀
