Various scuba training agencies often discuss ecological responsibilities we have as divers, but this is the first video I think I've seen showing the actual actions and techniques a diver might use to help in those clean-up efforts, along with some of the equipment used for that (indeed, why a diver should take something like a mesh bag like that on every dive, certainly a piece of kit I never thought to bring before!). Thank you very much for this! Are there any particular techniques to be aware of to remove things like line from coral in ways that reduce the potential harm that could come from the removal process itself?

Hi, thank you for your comments and for watching. Yes, there are a few important tools to bring - mesh bag, scissors, gloves (needed to protect yourself from cuts and stings). Also some procedures to follow such as not pulling on the entangled fishing line too much that will cause the line to further shred the corals. Good buoyancy and trim are essential to prevent further coral damage. I will be uploading a video on tools and steps - stay tuned. Please share this video with your fellow divers so we raise awareness on this issue. Thank you again.
