This is a masterclass in design, and supremely curated and edited. Its deceptively simple- once you look at the details you can see the coherent editing: there are primarily works on paper -and a stunning collection of Picasso drawings that are framed the same size and surround the fireplace wall. Its primarily all contemporary lighting. Window treatments are primarily just matchstick or woven blinds -very simple. And then what really add dimension so that it does not look like a furniture showroom is a superb collection of 18th century furniture: a Portuguese table, Italian painted furniture, french fauteuils, the moroccan hexagonal table. Accessories are textural in wood, rope, iron, adding to the scheme.Nothing necessarily commands more attention that the other: it a total design and highly refined. This is why Quintessence is such an extraordinary resource to learn and inspire.

Intelligent, appropriately sized, and lovely home! I love the indoor/ outdoor feel, depth of seating- and comfortable dining chairs on wheels! One of my best friend’s parents when I was a child did the same thing. Why don’t we ALL do that? It truly makes so much sense and is so much easier to move easily!

I think this is my favourite Quintessence home but I might have said that several times before! Such a gorgeous, deeply personal sanctuary of a very delightful hostess. The palette is as soothing and timeless as luxury creamy vanilla ice cream. It’s so meticulously planned and put together but it looks effortless, casual. I love her idea of layabout comfort and rest pervading absolutely every room, even outside, from mattressy sofas to cushiony dining chairs on castors. A joy.

Well now, if we're going to talk cosy rooms we have to talk about deVOL kitchens. I am embarrassingly late to the party on this one. They make the most exquisite kitchens and utility rooms I've ever seen. I'm not a fan of navy blue kitchen cupboards which seems to be a 'thing' still; I prefer a warmer, patinated, joyful palette and watching gifted designers like Suzanne skilfully blend tones, textures and work with light in order to create atmosphere and warmth in a room is such a masterclass in effective understatement. The worst person you can look to for inspiration of working with neutral tones is Kelly Hoppen. Each to their own of course, but her version of neutrals makes every room look like an upmarket Hungarian dental clinic.

Incredible home, very peaceful. What fun to get to decorate and be creative in a new and different setting. This more "minimalistic" style with neutral tones suits the home well. I love when one can walk around their home and tell stories about their decor, makes it so much more meaningful. It's what makes a house a home.

Everything has a sense of Zen without a Budda in sight. I love the soft colors of cream and dusty gray and the lamps in mixed metals that twist and turn. This house is sophisticated & classy and yet I hate to use the c word as it seems trivial in describing this home. Definitely a place to blow kisses to when you leave, yes it's that special.
