Whoa! What a great surprise. Andrew and Jeffry are friends of ours and we have stayed with them in this incredible space. I have to say that as incredible as it looks in this film, it is even better in person. For all the hard work and creativity they have put into the place, it is totally livable and comfortable. Wow! Now this place is a WINNER. One of the most beautiful and most well-thought-out homes I've ever seen. Just this morning I saw a video from inside a home where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio had lived and there was blue-and-white Mexican tile there then while watching this video I thought of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and how their home was a work of art in itself, but Jeffrey and Andrew have taken a Mexican home far beyond that into the 21st century, but still keeping the beauty of past centuries and of other cultures. Hi Andrew! Have you seen the Hyder House in San MIguel de Allende? As far as I know, it's available for special vacation rental and there's a terrific little personal walking tour of the property which someone posted many years ago here on KZbin-- I think they were staying there as a small wedding party. The quality isn't high-def unfortunately but I don't think my heart could take seeing the property in crystal clear clarity, haha! It's one of the most divine properties I've ever seen. Nobody really talks about that elegant-accidental-tropical jungle Mexican style of landscaping and gardening, where it looks wild, rambling and romantic but perfectly cultivated and purposeful at the same time. Everything just looks long established and alive. Swooning! The labyrinthine lush gardens are half the magic for me. If you can find the video, I highly recommend watching it. Bye! :)

Mexican architecture and landscaping is a passion of mine and this property is just glorious. What a pleasure and a privilege to get a sneak peak and a guided tour. San Miguel de Allende is on my bucket list. I keep hearing mixed reports of crime and policing issues. If someone who lives there or visits often can put my mind at ease by confidently saying that in their view most personal testaments and website reports are all bunk then then I'm far more likely to go next year. I will be easy to convince! Hahaah! What an absolutely stunning part of the world. The Hyder House is one of my favourites but there really are so many. I'd love to see more of your videos from San Miguel de Allende. The place has a distinct elegance, traditional style and luxurious, atmospheric drama. And those labyrinthine, imaginative layouts and beautiful landscaping...divine. Thank you so much for sharing.

San Miguel is probably relatively safe, but you'd likely be traveling there from León, I think that's the biggest airport. Guanajuato as a state is not "safe" anymore, though you'd probably be fine if you travel during the day. I have friends in San Miguel, but I don't know the current status. I lived in Mexico, in a dangerous area, had no other choice, and while we took precautions like not traveling and especially not at night, we still had to travel sometimes.

Jeffry and Andrew assured us that San Miguel is indeed very safe. There are over 20,000 ex-pats living there and evidently the government helps to ensure that as they don't want to jeopardize their UNESCO status.

We flew into Mexico City and took a car from there - a 3 hour drive.

@@L.Spencer I really appreciate your candid reply and honest advice here. I find people get incredibly defensive and offer entirely biased perspectives on things they are personally connected to. They simply won't countenance anything critical being said, even if factually accurate but inconvenient. Like dog attacks here in the UK: you can point out that certain breeds are over-represented and certain anonymous commenters will get so abusive and rude, utterly denying that a certain pattern even exists. The conversation begins and ends there. Nothing of value is explored and no conversational exchange brings about any enlightenment in either party. I get down about how humans treat each other on social media. Again, thanks for your honest 'two cents' worth. I appreciate it. :)

Beautiful home! I love the design, the materials used and the craftsmanship! The craftsmanship and techniques are an important element in this home! Many towns in Mexico have extraordinary artisans still working with their hands using local materials and using original techniques. These skills, in my opinion must also be preserved!
