Yes to the conservatory chairs, they are ideal. What would the table be used for? Clip on mics best, boom mic are constantly being fiddled with ive noted. Wall colour - if youre going to have coloured lights then thats a consideration, as grey wont work. Sound deadening could go on the ceiling. We definitely need a name.

Enjoying seeing this Rick. My project over the next few months is renovating my back yard, making it somewhere nice to spend time in the summer. Made some good progress yesterday painting. Wanted to apply a second coat today but frustratingly, it hasn't stopped raining all day.

Hello Rick, Congrats on that super creative podcast idea! It sounds like you're pouring your heart and soul into this project, and that kind of passion is contagious. Can't wait to hear the first episode from your new studio - all that hard work is definitely going to pay off! The podcast itself sounds like a fantastic idea, and I wish you tons of success with it. Looking forward to seeing where your creative energy takes you on this journey. And what the studio will look like. Greetings from Germany.

Same here. It's easy to watch this and think "Either this guy's obsessive or I'm incredibly lazy." (Probably both). But just remember you're looking at Type A+ OCD here, not one of us mere mortals :) I also am of the opinion that all this really is overboard just for a little podcast space. Why not just put the podcast stuff in the box room and be done with it? But he gets fun from it so why not. I have to stop making suggestions, just shut up and go along with it LOL. I would never do anything like that, not that I have the space to anyway. I just have a tiny apartment (flat) smaller than his downstairs :(. And nowhere near the motivation to do anything of that scale :( I'd be like. Computer - check. Microphone - check. Okay let's get recording.

1:55 They are called Kallax. I bought some for my stream room and thought I am so clever, and right in take one people said "Oh, you bought those "streamer shelfs".... and yeah, every streamer on the planet is using them for the background. I am working on hiding them ever since, hehe. But they are so practical!

Baerbel Born again, with her propper stream channel.... I am actually working on giving my craft/stream room a huge makeover. From shabby chic and white all over into dark academia (thats a propper term!) I am half through and you are my company, I listen to the videos while painting, building and contemplating. I am looking forward to your outcome of the room. I liked the bunk beds... I would take them if beaming will be invented.

Hypothetical question about the podcast table Why do you need a table ? Is it just for drinks, is it to put a laptop on ? Which way do you want to use the space, for solo you want a backdrop behind you with guests will you be face to face (formal) or side by side (relaxed) It almost seems like you need something like a free standing caravan table, it would go down to coffee table, but up to dining height Personally i like the relaxed slightly facing into each other, with the option of just having 1 seat for solo.smae backdrop.

I guess it's too late for this comment now, but personally I would have only cleared a small section, or use that smaller room for the podcast? Clearly you like organizing for it's own sake. Not my cup of tea but if you enjoy it then by all means. I'd just really hate to see you go through all that planning and moving and reorganizing and equipment purchases if you're not 100% sure you'd stick with the podcasts. I think you had the perfect podcast space already if you can do the THG videos from there you've already got a perfect setup. Again I hope no offense taken, I love the videos, but it's just something to think about. Or it could be my own jealousy that I don't have 3 spare rooms to play around with, nor anywhere near the patience or motivation to do what you're doing here. I WOULD do the cleaning out if I wanted space for space's sake and I didn't use that stuff (that's a lesson I need to learn), just I wouldn't do it JUST for the podcast studio. And if you like re-organizing for its own sake, by all means have at it :)

@thebluelibra56869 ай бұрын
Couldn't you just build your podcast space in that spare room, rather than tear apart your craft room? Honestly you could just leave the chairs in the conservatory and record there. People tend to over-think their recording space...the content is the most important thing, not the space/set. One example is mrballen here on YT, huge channel, basic set up, his storytelling ability is what built the channel, not his recording space.
@rickvanman9 ай бұрын
For me, it’s the overthinking and the building that’s the attraction 😁🤣
@mmanda5159 ай бұрын
Hate to say, when you sat in those chairs in the conservatory w/ the little table in between.. I was like, that's IT. Perfect setup, ideal spot, Already set up. ❤
@tomservo759 ай бұрын
@@rickvanmanOne of these days I'll learn that, and I will shut up and stop trying to give you advice. 🤣. Then again I have a much smaller space, so moving between three spare rooms is not an option for me anyway, so I've learned to make do with less space. We all have experiences that shape our attitudes toward space.

I think you might regret shoehorning yourself into a small room for doing your editing work. Everything fits - sure, but it doesn't look comfortable.
