Always loved Selby. It annoys me when people try and run him down for the way he plays sometimes. Being a consistent winner means you have to win when you can't pot a ball and yer confidence is shot to bits at the table. Snooker for me is far more than just potting balls and getting big breaks. I love the strategic side way more than big breaks. Selby and Higgins are the best at clawing results out from the jaws of defeat. Not many players in the history of the game can claim such an attribute. What a gaff that is. They deserve everything they have. Superb

@Washed up bottle job ROS O'Sullivan has never been a bottler. Sorry, but you're just plain wrong with that particular comment. Personally, I wouldn't say a lack of form is being burnt out. Hendry in his prime had a season where he won very little on his way to a Crucible win at the end of the season. Sometimes, it just doesn't happen, whoever you are, whatever your form.

Such a lovely home, beautifully decorated. I love the double pool house! Deserves it all, he's earned it all through hard work and practice. I'm looking forward to watching Mark Selby play for many more years, winning lots more tournaments. He has always been the most interesting player to watch, because he has such a wide variety of shots at his disposal, he can be agressive &breakbuild with the best of them; he can play incredible safeties and escapes; he clears up from impossible situations; he sees and executes shots nobody else does. And he is consistent. Finished 7 or 8 seasons in a row as world number 1, never fell out of top 10 since reaching it the first time. His form may not always be 100%, but it doesn't fluactuate as much as some players who are up and down like on a see-saw. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Mark's playing and accomplishments. Good luck to him for the next season! Thanks wst for giving us this little behind the scenes view into his life.

ok, am not a selby fan, brilliant consistent player and one of the toughest minds not only in snooker, but in sport. i feel he has worked extremely hard, as have others and tried his best all the time (along with others). but. that scene at 16:29-16:40 has changed me. like a lot. i have been a life long bachelor, and committed to it due to being raised in an awfully abusive family. mum would abuse us all, and dad was a different type of abuser; he would set out to destroy me and my personality through hidden underhand efforts, and this brought him great joy. what he loved more is when confronted he would claim he had done nothing wrong, but find more happiness in that he had ruffled us to this level. i know this has nothing to do with snooker, but please bear with me. we have all been through a pandemic, and it isn't over yet (thanks India!) and there has been an extreme rise in domestic abuse. this can come in many forms, physical, emotional, mental, but always hidden. please let's be patient with each other a little more, let's retreat a little from inflamed positions, and be the bigger person; this is what we can learn from the character in mark selby. you just don't know what the other person is going through. domestic abuse is at an all time high, and it is not nice. to be hurt by the people who are meant to love you the most is almost impossible to work out. that 11 second scene has changed me. i always thought, to quote song lyrics, 'is love real?'. and if so..what is it? i had a mother who would not allow us to be people: we were dogs, pets, to be groomed and seen, but with zero choice of our own. and if we ever did anything beyond her master plan for our life the abuse was insane. she would become the devil herself. dad, well i explained him already. just an evil man. but seeing selby's wife/girlfriend in the background, the daughter, the happiness...melted me. like proper melted. that's what love is. yeah he works hard. but the fruits of his labour are right there. the smiles he creates and the smile he gets back in himself. this simple 11 seconds has taught me what love is. he is a worthy world champion, and i hope there are many more successes to come, but more importantly I would love to see his daughter have some siblings in the near future. they are clearly great parents, and great parents raise (hopefully) great kids, and those kids are the future of the society we want to live in.
