Where as those in the video have a once in a life time occurrence. The Caribbean peoples deal with hurricanes year after year because that's where hurricanes form. The people there recover more or less. When Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005 over 1,800 lives were lost. The mostly black population there spent days without food, medical attention and drinking water. Shocking that Bush let that happen. Then again it didn't. Does that answer your question?

@@LeL-q9eHmm, let's see. You said that the Caribbean has been spared so far this year. I pointed out to you that that is generally not true. You explained that you meant that Belize has been spared. Some places do this NOW! I heard about it a generation ago. Island countries that get a lot of hurricanes are an example. An engineer told me at length about how cheap ordinary houses are constructed in (I think it was) Puerto Rico. Concrete blocks much as we do here, but the ROOFS were made of cast concrete sections, like the letter PI. They were lifted up on top of the house with a simple crane. The roof is RUGGED, you can cheerfully walk around on it, PLANT STUFF. There was a simple and effective way of protecting windows that I thought was so brilliant. It's easy to draw. But briefly an aluminum extrusion is attached to the wall above and below the windows, a "Z" shape. Miscellaneous planks cut to the right length can be slid in there sideways to cover the window! My friend said "a little kid can do it!". We don't learn anything from this, probably never will!

LOL! So you think you can change the weather? 😂 You can stear it with those abominations known as solar farms because they create heat sinks (the heat has to be measured from the reflecting point, not in the shade beneath them), which dries up rain and pushes storms around it or stalls it depending on which way the rain is heading, but you cannot change it.

I've not been able to speak to my parents who are 81 and 82. My mother had a biopsy done on Thursday on the tumor on her spine to find out if it is Multiple Myeloma. I only got to speak to her a few minutes after recovery. I haven't been able to speak to any of my family in that area . Asheville is my hometown and I'm have been away from the area since 2016. I have only been able to see some videos on my phone which has been spotty because I to have been impacted from the Hurricane. We have had flooding, lost power, Internet connection and just like everyone else it is impacting our cells as well. I to am fighting cancer, Ovarian Cancer and Primary Perinatal Adreno Carcinoma. Primary Perinatal Adreno Carcinoma is a rare cancer which less than 7 out of one million cases are diagnosed each year. I have been fighting my Ovarian Cancer since 2020 and the Primary Perinatal Adreno Carcinoma was found in 2021. Sorry I didn't mention toshare that but I'm sitting here devastated and pouring out my heart . Chimney Rock basically no longer exists and I spent so many Sunday picnics there as a child and I have need to tell my parents that it's gone before they see it on the news or someone else tells them. I know that sounds ridiculous..but one of my fondest memories as a child was going on a picnic on Easter to Chimney Rock ..Lake Lure and sitting on one of the big rocks and eating one of the big chocolate bunny's ears, after my mom broke it off for me. I hope others have happy memories to carry with them of Chimney Rock. Because it can't be rebuilt to be the way it was the river bank where the buildings sat and the buildings are gone now. Please pray for everyone in the WNC area and everyone affected by Hurricane Helene their all going to need so much help in the recovery process. Not just clean up and rebuilding. But there are actually policies and practices we could do to "change the nature " and of both the intensity and frequency of these climate events, because we know with data and evidence, that the increase in temperatures making the water warmer, makes these storms more severe and last longer than previous storms and hurricanes. All of these people should invest in reducing the impacts of climate change - because this is happening because of human activity and the use of fossil fuels for energy. They should support renewable sources of energy and over time can reduce the severity and frequency of flooding, fires, and degradation of the natural world. It isn't just "all chance" but in our ability to change the behaviors and practices that make it worse.
