At my mother's funeral, my mother-in-law wore a grin as she declared, "This house will be inherited by my son." Contemplating which room to take, she remarked, "I wonder if I should choose this one." What a horrid person was the MIL and the son a milksop. I never had a MIL but an Aunt in law. She wouldn't speak to us for weeks on end if we upset her over the slightest thing. Thankfully we emigrated to Oz and got away from her. She was supposed to love her nephew (my husband) but when he became ill. she never once called us. She would ring my Mum instead. Ruth down under.
