OMG! I haven't looked at videos of my favorite gorilla family and I am amazed at how big Gentaro has become, he's a silverback now. He's huge. Genki looks so small compared to him now. If Gemtaro has the opportunity of having his own wife and family some day, this will be hard on Genki, Momotaro and Kintero. I hope Genki gets pregnant and has a baby before Gentaro leaves. Kintaro will need someone to play with. You are very lucky to be able to watch them on a regular basis, thank you for all your videos and sharing them with everybody who live too far to visit the zoo. I'm from Canada, so it's impossible for me to ever meet them in person. If I ever could go to Japan, this zoo is my first place to visit. lol

I don't think he's going anywhere soon, considering what you've said about finding him a new home. Happy Gentaro is apart at night. The gorgeous boy can naughty and tries to mess with his dad... I also noticed moto moves away from him and doesn't go after him...

This is exactly the scenario that played out in England with silverback Oumbi and his son Lope. One day Oumbi just refused to let Lope into the family sleeping quarters at night, and would not let him return. Lope was forced to sleep outside in the group's yard until the zoo could make arrangements to transfer him into a bachelor group in France. I have been predicting this for several years now, and it breaks my heart that the Japanese zoos do not see the problems that Gentaro and soon, Kiyomasa, will have by staying in their natal groups. I realize that the rest of the world does not seem willing to work with Japanese zoos, but for the sake of the gorillas I wish the zoos would humble themselves and ask WAZA and AZA along with gorilla SSPs around the world for help. 💔💔💔 I appreciate what you are trying to do on their behalf, Ryan. I continue lobbying the St Louis zoo to try to get Kiyomasa moved to the bachelor group there, but I'm just a zoo member, and that decision needs to come from people higher up than I can access. I keep trying to contact the gorilla SSP here in the US, but so far I have had no luck.

Let’s not forget the females in Japan. You do have Komomo and Momoka ready for a silverback. We can also add Annie soon. It does not seem that they are going to put Annie and Gentaro together.

Só de pensar que Gentaro vai se separar da sua família é triste. Mas, 2 machos no mesmo ambiente mesmo sendo pai e filho vai gerar brigas futuramente. Gentaro já tá na idade de ter uma família. O próprio Momotaro com 10 anos já estava com a Genki. Aliás pra quem conhece mesmo essa família sabe que a Genki sofreu MT. Depois que ela conheceu Momotaro ela melhorou muito. Passou por uma separação do Gentaro por 10 meses. Por falta de leite. Já o Kintaro foi mais fácil sem problemas. Se TD der certo esse ano vou visitar a família Momotaro.

We humans need to do better than zoos. Gorillas are being successfully bred in zoos but to what end? To let individuals live a lonely life because people can't agree to give them space and mates? I'm thinking about all the male gorillas in zoos all over our world. I know they can't go back to the wild, it's not safe, they wouldn't survive and in some cases, there is no "wild" to go back to. We have to do better. I don't know the answer and it just makes me so sad.

At 7:34-35, a good look at Gentaro's canines. Not as long as Momo's but very impressive. He definitely is ready to be on his own. Doesn't the troop, in the wild, kick out the younger males after a while... as they mature? In the wild, what do the lone males do? Do they find other lone males to hang out with? Or do they find another troop they can join and fight the Silverback...try to take over? In Gentaro's situation, how would it work in the wild? Won't Genki and Kintaro be upset if Gentaro isn't there anymore?

Meus dois amores, Kintaro e Genki, estou preocupada com o Kintaro, ele não pode ir embora com o irmão, ele precisa da mãe, é muito novo, mas vai ficar sem ninguém para brincar, e as brincadeiras são importantes para o seu desenvolvimento, tem anos que eu assisto aos vídeos da família Momotaro, e ainda não consegui ver melhorias, um ambiente enriquecedor para os gorilas, assim como eu estou observando, outros Países também, espero que o Zoo tenha um planejamento para melhorar a qualidade de vida da família, do jeito que está não dá mais, não adianta só o apoio dos que assistem e amam a família, mas o empenho , a prioridade precisa ser a família para o Zoo, não estou criticando, só quero o melhor para a família, quero qualidade de vida para a família, eles estão em um ambiente que não oferece espaço, não tem árvores, troncos, espaços típicos de gorilas, enriquecimento. I don't think they have ideas of separating Gentaro from his parents it's just they're afraid father n son have a serious fight harder than the last one, Gentaro became too strong and rebel and highly hates Momotaro, there's no even a single scene that shows otherwise. I'm really so sad for him, him and Kiyomasa could start a bachelor group with Monta who seems having a terrible time just by his own, and also seems so wise. Anyway I don't either Gentaro can easily relate with others I do love him ❤ but I also think he is having mental issues due to several facts in his lifetime

Ich würde hoffe das Gentaro wie Lope aus England wenn er keine Familie gründen kann wenigstens in eine Junggesellen Gruppe kommt. Lope ist in Frankreich und es geht ihm gut .Das was weniger schön war ist das ihm sein jünger Bruder Shufai kastriert wurde und der lebt weiter bei seiner Familie. Ich fände es grausam wenn mein kleiner Schatz Kintaro auch kastiert würde damit er bei seiner Familie bleiben kann ❤
