Rod Hollow shelter site (mi. 995.9) to Snickersville Gap (mi. 1006.5) What a day! Got an early start today to beat the heat and tried to make it to my pick up spot by noon. We had to hike almost all of the 14 mile long Virginia roller coaster today. It’s a series of straight ups and straight downs with absolutely no views. I could tell it was the weekend because there were lots of day hikers and section hikers out. I made it to the gap at 12:30 so I was happy with that, and my buddy’s son was there to pick me up and take me back to the house. The work wasn’t done when I got there though, there were ever present chores to do: get cleaned up, repair my hiking poles, empty my entire backpack, do laundry, upload videos, dry out my tent, and take inventory on everything. I also got something to eat but took it easy. Very excited to see my friend Joe, and I will be taking a zero for Father’s Day tomorrow at his house. Look forward to just relaxing! 😎
Todays menu: Package of pop tarts, large snickers, three 28 oz. Gatorades, small package of peanuts, 2 bananas, 3 glasses of ginger ale, ham & Swiss wrap, 2 cheese sticks, half a pepperoni pizza, large side salad, chocolate chip ice cream, and water.

Happy Father’s Day. You are so close to counting down miles! And that roller coaster is the kiddie ride version compared to Southern Maine. I hope you put your hands up on the downhills. It’s a lot of fun coming along for the hike, thank you for posting.
